I have severe health anxiety and have been experiencing every symptom for the past 4 months. Recently I have developed a new sensation which of course sent me into a panic all over again. I am getting a warm sensation on the outer side of my left knee but it's not hot to touch. It feels like a hot cup of coffee was put against it or I rubbed Bengay on it. It only lasts for a few seconds and then goes and comes again off and on throughout the day. It's just a spot about the size of a ball that feels internally warm. Does anyone else experience this. I googled and now I am in a panic thinking it's a serious neurological disease. Please help
Have you seen a Doctor..? Anxiety can cause tons of really strange symptoms. Vitamin deficencies pop after a while as well. I have gotten really strange sensatiins from feeling like water dripping to funny weird feeling or buzzing in muscles. I ignore all of it at this point. I figured its a vitamin deficency from the constant adrenaline flooding. Vitamin b complex, magnesium glycinate and vit D and co enzyme q10 low dose and omega 3 is what i use daily now and it took about a solid week to feel a change but it did begin to help a lot. My doctor is very into health stuff and he likes supplements a lot. He did run some blood tests and checked deficiencies i did have b12 and vit D and i get b12 shots since six years ago. As for your knee could be a pinched nerve from your lower back or in your leg or something with your meniscus. Stress is really hard on the body. Do you sleep on your side? You could be simple pressing your knees together during sleep and causing this without realizing it. Or same if your a leg crosser. Maybe if that a yes place a head pillow between your knees to cushion the stress of it. If your a oeg crosser stop and be aware. When your relaxing massage the area.
hi hun,im new here just joined yesterday,i also get a very warm almost like im on fire but mine starts at my feet and goes all up my body to my head,it makes me sweat something terrible but im not hot to touch, its very scary,i mentioned it to my doctor and she said its a form of extreme anxiety, hope this help you hun,you are not alone xx
Hi, I do sleep on my side and I always put a pillow between my legs. Inhave a habit of googling thinking it will make me feel better but it makes me feel worse. I have convinced and in mean convinced myself I have a neurological disease andnit is debilitating. I was taking all the supplements you mentioned and this warm sensation on the side of me knee just started happening last week. I am on sertraline and inwas taking extra strength omega 3 and also some nights a muscle relaxer with ibuprofen. 2 weeks ago I happened to look at my legs and had random bruising down both legs. They are gone now but in went to my dr and had blood work and it was all.normal. she said it was probably a combination of the sertraline with omega 3 and ibuprofen since they all thin your blood. Also the magnesium can do that. I stopped the ibuprofen and omega 3 and the bruises are gone. My leg isn't hot to touch so it's not a blood clot. It is just really scaring me bc over the last 4 months I have been having extreme anxiety and panic attacks and all these other physical symptoms like little muscle twitches that you can see all over my body legs arms back, and for the entire 4 months which i think is what really started my anxiety my right shoulder and arm feels weak and pains all the way down to my fingers. I was so tense I noticed I was holding my shoulder very tensed up and sometimes very tensed down. I have gone to the dr so many times and she said it was all the tension compressing on the nerves or thoracic outlet syndrome where the bracial plexus is compressed. It's just all these sympoms that are setting me off and then i google amd convinced myself I had ms cancer a blood clot and I can't handle it
Thats interesting i was told that thoracic thing years ago but i kind of wrote it off. I get all kinds of weird sensations too. I am not sure how i feel about doctors anymore. I have ailments and diagnosis as it is and unless they can cure me i get frustrated with all of it. I try to stay positive but i worry a lot over eye issues which is counter productive on every level. I research all the new medical break throughs and such but unless it gets main streamed im not sure thats even a smart idea. I have never seen this new blood test that tests for hundreds of ailemts, and i cant afford the gentic testing costing two thousand dollars and then Having to follow up on each result with a specialty doctor. Its too much. I do not google symptoms anymore that is a horror story and has almost never panned out ever. I have learned you can be sitting at the doctor and have something wrong and i have heard..sorry thats not my area of expertise..which usually means youll have too see a bunch of different doctors and run expensive tests and i have done that as well. Then i hear science isnt exact and they dont really understand everything. The end result is i turned to alternative to handle stress, anxiety and try to help myself nutritionally. That and prayer because i am trying to get through the day and I want to find some happiness in my life and have some hope. Anxiety stiffens the body and yes things get compressed and pinched and all weird sensations are the result. I have learned this too and i have tmj so that really teaches me what stress can do to muscles and nerves. We have been brainwashed or something that we have to be our own doctors and its not right or fair I would think in some way your posture changed, whether sleeping, sitting, walking, shoes, mattress..something changed and it triggering that issues. I say that from my own experiences. My best advice take one day at a time amd not even bother feeding into weird symptoms ince you have checked them out, if needed. Im too chicken to go to a chiropractor kind of scared they can alter the body in away that worsens me or causes new issues..but i wonder if a good chiro would know more. I know statins cause a host of isses but you didnt mention you were in those. Hope you feel better soon. Im postive your not alone in any of this.
Same exact thing here. It's in my right shin, same spot each time, a few seconds, several times throughout the day. It feels like there's heat blowing on it, or the sun is shining on it, or like you said, a warm cup of coffee on it. I went to the doctor, he said he's not worried, but referred me to a neurologist anyway, But the neurologist didn't have an opening for a couple months. I'm convinced it's the beginning of some horrible, debilitating disorder and it makes me so scared. I also get the horrible anxiety. With any symptom I get, I pretty much overthink it until I've worked myself up so badly that I'm in tears. I've been that way since I was little and my dad had to calm me down, (my mom was always like me, panicking about her own stuff). My husband is not like my dad at all, comforting and reassuring. Instead he rolls his eyes at me and gets annoyed whenever I mention a symptom. Anyway, I don't go to the neurologist until August, but will let you know.
I also forgot to mention that the doctor ordered bloodwork, and nothing looked abnormal, except my vitamin D was lower than the optimal range, but I don't think that's the issue.
Hi Iana,
I too have exactly the same heat sensation in my lower right shin. It comes and goes throughout the day but I notice it more if I walk around a lot or stand. It isn't hot to touch but I have convinced myself I have a blood clot even though I know if I did then something bad would have happened by now.
I do suffer from anxiety but only since last year because I was in agony with gallbladder issues which the doctors completely missed so I ended up having to fly half way across the world to see a specialist where I ended up having my gallbladder removed as it was about to burst. So I have lost trust in the NHS doctors as a result and never believe what they tell me, I feel like they try to get you out the door asap.
Anyway I have an appointment next week as it is concerning me and I have convinced myself I have ms, diabetes the list is endless!!
I just hope it is a form of anxiety and nothing serious!! Argh as if life isn't stressful enough for us all!!
Hello!
I am having the exact same sensation on the back of my leg behind my left knee. It's warm and kinda wet. It's not hot to the touch and it only comes in flashes. It doesn't last long. I too have horrible anxiety problems especially about my health. The most common causes I have heard about this sensation is anxiety (we worry so much that we mess up our blood flow with adrenaline and other factors) and of course pinched nerves. I also have issues with sciatica and repetitive motion issues through my work. I am certain that it's stress and/or a nerve problem. I haven't had it checked out yet but I am due for a visit to the chiropractor. You are not alone. Anxiety is such a health drainer! I am almost certain that it is an adverse effect of worry and anxiety. I plan on keeping an eye on it but trying not to let it get me down. It's comforting in a way to know I'm not alone in this. I hate anxiety!
This is so weird, when I googled this subject I was sure I wouldn't find anything or anyone who experienced it also but.....here we all are. I have just recently started feeling this same thing, a warm to hot sensation on the front of my right shin several times a day only for a few seconds. I too have horrible anxiety and ptsd so of course my first reaction was oh my god I'm dying...but obviously I am not. I for the longest time was sure I had blood clots even after I'd had my legs checked several times. I did just within the last 6 months have a procedure on both of my legs called venefit to close off the greater saphenous veins because they were not pumping the blood back up efficiently it's called venous reflux but anyway I have a feeling this is a nerve thing. I am gonna give it another couple of weeks and then if it does not go away. I will get it checked out. I hope we all get some answers soon 😊
I hope your appointment for this went well! I ended up cancelling my neurologist appointment because the warm sensation went away (either that or I have gotten so used to it I don't even feel it any more).
I also think it's a nerve thing. Since mine ended up going away, I wonder if it was a pinched nerve.
I, too, have this sensation in my left leg...started recently. I do have some anxiety and also low hormone levels...just recently got bio identical hormone replacement pellet therapy. I'm also about 15 pounds heavier than my optimal weight. Just wondering if any of that could cause the warm sensation. I have no pain and it's not hot to the touch.
Hi! lana14567
Did you end up going to the Neuroligist and didn't he end up telling what this was?
I just experienced this today...I have anxiety as well so I'm freaking out lol I also have a Vit D deficiency. This sensation has come and gone several times today and I'm convinced I have a blood clot 😳
If if I get one symptom, I google it and google tells me I'm dying of cancer lol 😢😜😫

Hi Stephanie. Just wondering what other symptoms you are getting cos I also suffer with anxiety big time and have recently discovered that I have Vitamin D deficiency. Perhaps we could have similar symptoms. Not sure what are symptoms of anxiety and what could be the vit D. Its a viscious circle isn't it ? Luv Lily x
I Googled this symptom and found this group. About 8 weeks ago I started working out 6 days a week, nothing to high intensity as I have a damaged right knee so I keep everything low impact. About two weeks ago the back of my right leg calf up to mid thigh felt just like you described, like someone was pouring hot coffee down my leg, there is no pain, no heat to the touch, its internal, it happens while I sit, stand and workout. I would venture to say 3 times a day I experience it. Would love to know what it is, I have not suffered from anxiety for over 4 years now. I did for many years prior but no longer. Any new developments in would be interested in hearing and would be appreciated.
Did you ever find out what was causing the hot spot on your leg? I don't have anxiety normally, but did start having an intermittent hot spot on the top of my left thigh that comes and goes and I'm starting to get a bit worried.
I didn't ever find out what was causing it but I'm told it's all anxiety and tension. Mine went away for probably 7 months and now its back again. It's just a warm sensation that lasts a few seconds and goes away and then comes again randomly throughout the day. It's mostly on my left outer side of my knee. I had a nervous breakdown last year my anxiety was so bad and I had all kinds of symptoms at the time and this was just another. It lasted for all but 4 or 5 months and then went away. How often are you getting it
