(WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTO) Is this normal bleeding for haemorrhoids?

So sorry to subject people to this but as per title, i need some peace of mind that what I'm experiencing is typical of other sufferers. My consultant had refused to look at a photo of the blood when i tried to show him, after being asked how much blood i was passing. I just feel there's a lot combined with clots every time, and even you Google what a"normal" amount is, most descriptions are very ambiguous.

Time for New Consultant Toddy, i had same thing and used to wear my wife's sanitary towels . until i took it off and slapped it down on the GP's desk , and that worked . good luck.

I would have loved to have seen their face!

I'm assuming it was haemorrhoids with you?

Hi Toddy, Crikey that seems like a lot of blood loss to me. Even if that amount is 'normal' for hems, losing that amount of blood at every bowel movements is not good for your body.
Women can suffer from iron deficiency from a monthly period, one week a month let alone every day! Ask to be referred to another consultant. Actually demand to see someone else. To not even look at the photograph let alone reassure you is shocking. Sarah.

And i wouldn't mind he was the lord mayor , all dressed up going to do his civil duties after conducting his surgery , ha ha ha, that's how i was . with piles .

you need too get this check out fast this is not funny. your lossing blood from the inside of you. this can be serious because of lost blood. i bet your blood count is way down and you may have lost iron also. get it check pout now

Been to GP today and got an appointment next week with the consultant.

Cheers for the feedback.

With a different consultant I hope 🤔

Same one unfortunately.

Had a blood test and my iron levels are low, do have been prescribed ferrous fumerate tablets by gp. At least i can tell him that the bleeding is enough to have affected my iron levels

Was it from an internal hemroid? WHEN you had a bowel movement? If so what did they do for that? i suffer from internal hemi with bowel movement on occassion, comes and goes.

FEEL BETTER

Went back to consultant (colorectal surgeon), and he said that blood loss doesn't cause low ferritin levels!!!

He said that I'm not getting enough dietary iron despite me taking iron supplements for a year.

I'm shocked that a specialist doesn't understand that lost blood needs replacing by your body, which uses your iron stores to create more haemoglobin, and depletes your ferritin levels.

Anyway going to have more banding done.

hi I am new here looking for a few answers I also had to take the same photo and show it to my doctor. this is not healthy in my opinion. I have severe bleeding but my only saving grace is i have zero pain. he has me on venexxin which is a new over the counter medication to improve hemorrhoids and suppositories hc. I have been using this for about a week now with no improvement. still a full bowl of blood. I have been told that my only other option is surgery and I would prefer to not explore that but again this is not healthy. does anyone have any other suggestions to solve this? I have had the colorectal screening and they say I am cancer free. again any thoughts on this thanks

Hi,

I've had 2 lots of banding with no success and am about to have 3rd attempt next month.

I've been taking fybogel 2x per day for the last 2 weeks and that seems to have helped a little, do worth a try.

if it goes on a long time it's worth getting a blood test as I'd become iron deficient.

I have tried metamucil before and it also helped for a bit but the down side was if i was more than 30 secs from a toilet and had to strain to keep it in the bleeding would come back again. you would then be back to square one in your healing. the first round using venexxin the bleeding stopped after a week but any bad bowl movement caused it to start and it hasn't quit. I have been bleeding like that for probably a year now.

Get a blood test , full blood count and ferritin to check you aren't iron deficient / anaemic.

they did a blood test last week so I should find out about that soon

Just had my 3rd banding done today am in quite a bit of pain this time. Spoke to the consultant beforehand and mentioned the large blood clots I'm passing and he said it's completely normal and nothing to worry about.

If anyone else has been passing clots can you please reply and confirm to me that this is "normal" as I'm finding it hard to trust him?

He said at my last appointment that if this didn't work, I may have to live with it. According to him, they don't consider regular bleeding (as in the pic) to be a concern!!!

This is the size of clot in passing:

I've been on 400mg of Ferrous Fumarate daily for the last 3.5 months to treat low serum ferritin. At the time my haemoglobin levels were normal.

I've just had a CBC test again yesterday and I'm now mildy anaemic despite being on high strength iron supplements all this time. My GP said that it's definitely not my haemorrhoids bleeding making me anaemic as, and i quote, "You've got more chance of winning the lottery than becoming anaemic from haemorrhoids".

Can't wait for my next consultant appointment in July to told I'm going to have 4th banding...

are they doing a colonoscopy too? They should find out why youre anaemic
