Had my second dexa 2 weeks ago and my results show I have managed to reverse my osteoporosis without pharmaceutical drugs My doctors were more surprised than I by the results. It is achievable with a little research and discipline .
Whats your secret, fill us in.
Congratulations! More details please......tscores?
Very good! Welcome to the alternative club!
What were your scores?
Ha! Me too! I've been fighting several GP's over the last 2.5 years because I was refusing to take Alendronic Acid. I am on steroids and so more bone thinning was expected and I was dreading this results appointment. By using all natural means I have also reversed the T scores. They have improved a lot! The specialist was astonished! So was I! I still have Osteoporosis but not nearly so bad. One T score equates to my result being the same as 94% of women my age in the population! It was 79% 2.5 years ago! Good eh? And still on steroids! She congratulated me, saying 'this is down to you, well done!'
I feel totally vindicated. I also feel strongly that we should not have to fight so hard to be able to make informed decisions about our own bodies!
Can you state the tscores before and after?
And well done to you!
I did it Anhaga! More to do of course but the Specialist at the Bone Clinic has agreed to another Dexa Scan in 2 years and I Will carry on as before but upping the ante a bit, now that I know that it works! I still have the big smile on my face! I need these so called experts to offer their patients an alternative to Alendronic Acid! X
And our numbers grow! Of course it's a lifelong commitment, but, hey, so is nearly everything we do! When my inspirational friend got in touch with me, and told me about such things as Vitamin K2, and the various kinds of exercise, etc, another friend told me that she, too, had managed to improve her scores, but she then slacked off, and very quickly went back into osteoporosis territory. It was her choice, of course, and she seems unperturbed, but if I were her I'd have picked up the pace again!
This is so very true. First line should be public awareness of what is, after all, a very serious situation in the Western world. Second line, the primary care physicians should be advising patients on nutrition and exercise to prevent the problem form occurrin, and if it starts to develop helping them with supplements and further advice before the stage where the meds do become a serious option. At present we're left to get on with things, and then, no matter one's particular situation, some are more dire than others, immediately told we must take medication.
There needs to be some tracking of people managing to reverse osteoporosis to give encouragement to others.
There is a "zero pred" thread on the PMR forum, maybe the moderator would agree to our starting a successful non-medicated reversal of bone thinning one? Or words to that effect.
See this - at the bottom:

We'd need to make sure it wasn't advocating anything the powers that be might consider questionable and vulnerable to moderation, but just being able to see that within the past year, say, half a dozen people have received acceptable proof that their bone thinning has reverse would be a great resource to point to for the skeptical or nervous!
I don't find it any hardship, so hopefully I will continue this lifestyle forever!
id like to thank you for your enthusiasm and encouragement these last few months. Onwards and upwards!
I made a new post a few minutes ago. If it's successful we can ask to have it pinned, I think.
I will Kathleen. I have terrible brain fog from the steroids and I can't remember the recent ones accurately enough, but she is sending them to me. I have my first ones
neck of Femur -2.6
lumbar spine -3.5
all I recall is that there are no -3 scores now and the spine shows a massive improvement.
Sorry, I will come back here when they arrive.
I was so sure Id remember but I think I was so stressed and so excited they disappeared into the fog"...
-2.9 - 2.1
Hmmm, looks like the femur is somewhat worse? But the spine improvement is fantastic. Was this done on the same machine?
Angela, what do these T scores relate to?
Anhaga, are you looking at my scores alongside Angela's ?
what score do you consider to be osteoporosis. I am at -2.1 and -2.2 I am not taking the medication for it. trying to go natural.
