Water tablets.

I have just been to the Docs as asked by the physio and he has prescribed 7 days of water tabs then I have to have a blood test (kidneys)  Doc told me to keep legs elevated and not to worry about exercising until the swelling has gone down...  who do you beleive? anyway he said..listen to you body, you know when you are ready to do the tasks required...do not push yourself at this stage as you can do more damage, wait until the swelling has gone down?

Trust your doctor and please listen to your body. You will still be getting exercise walking to and fro the toilet if on water tablets am it won't be long before you are up and about I'm sure. Just remember to take it one day at a time

Thank you, I think they know and our bodies know... one day at a time.

Hi Hazel, that is what my go said to me at a week post op.he told me to listen to body etc and I did, I am 5 weeks 5 hours 20 mins post op and am doing well and the light is on in my tunnel.

however it is around this time of day that I feel and see my leg / knee/ foot swell up so bad I can not do exercises. It will be 8 pm bed to elevate.

Take me care hope all goes well.

Well I agree I was pushing my exercises as instructed in the hosp but I was in sooooo much pain it was excruciating!!! I am now 4/5 weeks post op and apart from walking about and going up and down stairs I havent done any cos my knee is so tight and swollen but today I can raise my leg off the bed up to 12 times and can bend it so im leaving it til my body tells me im ready???? I suppose some might call it lazy but it is coming naturally so im not pushing my luck???

Thanks, same here 5 weeks tomorrow post op...I did get cellulitis which didn't help in the first two weeks at home.   Elevated my leg all morning so wasn't as swollen as yesterday when I saw the doc...typical.

Thanks for the reply, Not lazy, our bodies are healing and they can only do so with rest. The physio told me to try a heat pad on the tightness and it worked for me.

Work to get rid of fluid, I came on well adter leg swelling went.  We are old enough to go with gut feelings.  Hope you get rid of fluid soon

Oooooo ive got a pad that ive been using cold but im going to get it now and im going to warm it and try that???

Had my first water tablets this morning, working alrteady!!!! legs elevated as well, plus they feel softer not hard full of fluid so hopefully this will work. Anmother 6 days of tabs then a blood test for kidneys..

Oh well done hazel onwards and upwards!!!!

Hi Hazel, take it steady when running for the loo,

i have fingers crossed that this works for you.
