just to say those guys new to sertraline hang in there if you give it a chance it helps. I went on it in December 50mg a day due to anxiety after a very hard year with back issues, and high work stress. I got panic attacks and found it very hard.
sertraline really helped it does make you constipated, and gives you hot flushes which I'm still getting:} it also gave me breast tension and put on half a stone. It also gave me space to work with a CBT counsellor and regain my self esteem. In January I flew to Canada as my husband had work there I was a bag of nerves. This June I flew to Australia and managed a long flight very well, and explored Adelaide on my own while my husband worked.
he is away tonight only in Birmingham but I had a sudden feeling of nerves, but it passed I cut down from 50mg to 25mg every other day 7 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I cut down to 12mg every other day, then 12mg after 4 days this week my last 12mg will be next Weds.
hang in there all new to the drug, those coming off we can do it!
i was reluctant to go on it but I knew it would help me so I decided to wait until I felt stronger and less anxious then slowly come off, as you can get side effects if you come off to fast. I've been on the full dose of 50mg up until June so about 6 months, then every other day, then cut down to 25mg then 12mg.
i also started doing mindful meditation 6 months ago, and meditate now every morning before I start my day, it is a great help.
It does help thanks. I'm on 100mg so I guess I'll have a longer wind down. I'm definitely not there yet but so many people seem to be on it for years it has given me hope to hear that you were ready to go it alone so (relatively) quickly. The thought of the panic attacks coming back terrifies me though. I'm not familiar with mindful meditation. I'll look it up and give it a go.
