wearing heels

Hi I'm 10 weeks after my op all has gone ok in 8 weeks I've got a lady's day event to go to and was wanting to wear a small heel has anyone else got into heels at 18 weeks or do you think I'm pushing it too soon .

I have had nightmares with my operation and i pushed myself to early on. A year later and i cant wakl and have had to have 5 operations i am in a much worse position than i ever was. I wouldnt push yourself personally .

Hi. I saw my surgeon again a couple of weeks ago which was 14 weeks. I saw him agin because the toe is stil a bit raised and he wants to monitor it. I feel grateful that he is taking the time to do this and go back again in April.

Anyway, he said that I could try a small heel and see how it went but would not be able to wear 'elegant ' shoes for about 6 months. On a positive note, I have just been to Cuba on holiday and did lots if walking. He told me that I could try salsa dancing . I followed his advice, took a lesson (I wasn't very good!) and really enjoyed it! A bit achy afterwards but good! See how you feel. Try it at home for a bit and see how it goes. Good luck

I have a wedding to go to in April which will be 18 weeks post op. I asked my surgeon at the 6 week follow up if I could wear heels. He smiled and said low ones & not for too long! I guess our feet will soon tell us off!! Good luck Michy! 👠👠👠👠

Hi, ive been looking at shoes on line and found hotter shoes do a lovely shoe with a low heel and wide fitting which I reckon look really comfy  they have a small bow on the front and come in cream, pink or torquise am sure the beige would look great with jeans also, good luck, by the way did you have pins in hammer toes also? I am three weeks post op and wonder how painful the removal is ? have a nice day showing off your new foot/feet !

Hi mitchy, yes do try and wear heels as soon as possible. It's great exercise to strengthen your toes too. Have you had physiotherapy yet? As when I had my therapy I was instructed to start wearing heels gradually as I did not want my toes to start stiffening which can happen after a while. If I was you try and start wearing your old heels for a hour a day and increase your wearing time as the days and weeks progress. Make sure you can fit in the heels especially if you are still experiencing swelling or you may have to invest in a wide fit. Hope you enjoy your event!

Jilly, I have a pin in my toe following hammertoe correction and it is permanent. I have a few pairs of Hotter shoes from pre - op days with a low heel and I can say that they are definitely comfortable
