Weed

I smoked weed from October to about January and I had a bad panic attack the last time I did it so I stopped doing it cause it scared me. Then like a month later I started having bad panic attacks and it keeps getting worse I have terrible anxiety and constant derealization. I'm on buspar 3 times a day and it kind of helps but it doesn't make all the of the problems go away. Will I be like this forever because of the weed? Has anyone experienced this before? My psychiatrist says it wasn't from the weed the anxiety just happened to happen at the same time I was smoking weed but i don't know

I had the same problem as you last year in December and ever since then I stopped smoking it's weird I started having a panic attack along with heart racing when I was high under the influence of weed I went to the ER and had several Diagnostics by different doctors including cardiologist but they tell me that there's nothing wrong with my heart it was just anxiety that cost it while I was smoking weed one thing that does help with anxiety and heart racing is a beta blocker called propranolol

Forgot to mention ever sense then I stopped smoking weed and drinking sense u had fear i would have another attack

Did you have the derealization? I've had Mris done and have been to the hospital a couple times they all say I'm okay I just have bad anxiety. I don't smoke weed anymore either or drink. I'm only 16 though so I don't know if I should take a beta blocker

Weed ooens the door into panic disorder for a percentage of people who use it. It just does. Theres a chemical in it that for some triggers it, and at time synthetic weed will do it easily. once you have a panic attack its basicaaly traumatizing and it all begins. they can say it wasnt the weed but your story has been told many times before you and im sure many will tell it after you. You most definetly had a predisposition for it anyway it just very rapidly progressed it. I would guess you experienced depressive episodes before you ever used it and a worrier as well. Dont focus anymore how it began it wont help you just focus on how to get it all amanged. Which is no easy thing.

Yes I've had depressive episodes before. But this is something I've never dealt with the anxiety and panic attacks and constantly having derealization. Will I be able to get over this eventually?

And yes I worry constantly that something terrible is wrong with me

Yes you will but you need help with dealing with it and learning the techniques and skills. Be very patient. When you get really off the scale anxious and scared the body reacts. The brain slows itself down or tried to cool off basically and weird derealization or similiar weird stuff occurs.it hapoens very fast too, It like a computer when you use it alot and it heats ups them sometimes acts up at that point or just freezes and at some points turns off to cool down. Its like that. Once you manage this better, and you will this will calm itself down. Fear is one potent emotion and makes a terrible mess in our bodies. We are just human and work off fight or flight to survive. When this disorder sets in the whole fight or flight is awry. Science doesnt know why it doesnt reset yet. Its really fight, flight, freeze or fawn. It will get better as time goes on because you will make the needed adjustemnt and change for it to get better. Get an anxiety and phobia workbook and at least you will have some sort of info anf guide to help you. A therpaist is really useful. Derealization accompanies panic disorder at times. Its extreme fear.

I go to a psychiatrist every two weeks and he's got me on buspar 3 times a day but idk if it's helping much. But my derealization is very bad. And my body is constantly tense and nervous and I always think something terrible is wrong with me cause I feel like this.

Be patient. Buspar takes about two months before it works its magic. Its a helper not the magic you want from it or any medicine. It aids in calming the GaD, the worrying part then in hopes ot doesnt escalate.  The derealization, for you is a part of a panic attack. It is hard stuff you are dealing with. It is. So  try and be patient ehich is not a strong trait in anyone with anxiety. One day at a time is all you can do. When this happens know it will pass, and it will always pass. you can try splashing cold water on your face or putting ice chips in your mouth to get your body sidetracked to regulate  body temperature. Thats helps a bit because it takes away from the extreme anxiety. Also, when you feel in a better mindset magnessium salt (not salt though) foot soaks this disorder depletes the body of magnesium very fast. The ,agnessium will helo to get you to calm down. But you cant really do it in the height of an anxiety attack because no one is rationale during those.

You can keep a journal. Write down every thought you have and every symptom every day. In one months time you will have your own personal handbook to your disorder. Then use cbt or dbt to dismantle the thoughts and symtoms maybe your therapist can teach and helo you with that. Theres a lot on pinterest woth dismantling negative thoughts and cbt and dbt. But you need to do the journal first so you have all the information on yourself. Then when this happens you can pull it out and read it woth the correction of thought amd emotion.  Yes you will still have to deal with the adrenaline rushes that becomes ohyscial once it is triggered off. But eventually wont escalte as much. It is a panic disorder so of course you will think something is wrong..thats a part of what it is. They have online cbt or dbt couses as well. This all takes lots of time and patience. Theres no easy fix here. It is going to teach you so much anout you, more then you probably even want to know, but theres no other option.  Also look up meditations  to help derealization. You need to form a panic attack tool kit for yourself so the journal and such will help you do that. Also calming is a himalyan salt lamp  its soothing. This will get better youll see it just requires change amd to change you need to learn a lot and be your own best cheerleader and friend.

Thank you what you have said I'm sure will help me a lot. Will having this panic disorder hurt me physically? And what is cbt and dbt? And do you think having this will make me go crazy?

You wont let it get to the point ok. And it would be a nervous breakdown not crazy and youd heal from that. You need a therapist. Clearly the phychiatrist hadnt explained much of anything to you.

How do I not let it get to that point? And I've kind of already had a nervous breakdown before and I went to the hospital. Sorry I'm asking so many questions I'm just worried.
