weekly blood donation

Just phoned the hospital and will now have weekly blood donations from wednesday this week and I am hoping that drawing blood weekly will have the desired effect and reduce my ferritin level.    When I go on wednesday I shall ask about a CRP test, just in case this is stopping my ferritin level going down.     And I shall wait and see what effect the weekly draw of blood has.   My ferritin level is still hovering around 3000.   Has anyone had a CRP test and found this to be stopping the ferritin level reducing?   Thanks for all the help, Glyn

A CRP result is a reflection of inflammation/malignancy in your body.  It is not something that stops your ferritin from going down.  If you have high ferritin because you have high inflammation in your body, the CRP test will confirm that.

HIgh inflammation or a malignancy can be a cause for your increasing ferritin levels.

My Hemotologist recommends phlebotolies only every other week because it can hinder the process if you get it taken out too often. Maybe you can check the protocol where you are?

Your haemotologist may be only referring to your case and your level of ferritin.  People with Glyn's level of ferritin often have twice weekly in order to get the level down quickly (if his Hb can recover quickly enough).
