Hello.. has anyone weened off citelopram to try an new anti? Iv sufferd with aniexty for years and been on cit since 2012! Only recently been moved up to 30mg from 20mg but me and my GP have both decided the cit isnt working anymore and its time to try a new med? Anyone else done this if so how did u feel? What worked for you? Thanks Sammy x
I'm unfamiliar with it, but its probably best to taper it slowly as withdrawl from psych meds is usually 100 times worse than the original problem. It's an iatrogenic system for profit.
Thank you for reply... im on 30mg of citelopram and been told to take 20mg for the mext 5 days and then down too 10mg for 5 days im really nervous about doing so 😢 x
I have been on citalopram for 20 years plus. At one point I was down to a quarter of a tablet at 5mg. There was no effect. So don't worry if you gradually reduce. On a personal note i would be grateful if you let me know how the new med goes and what it's called. I was involved in a hit and run 3 years ago which set me back a long way and not convinced my 20mg is doing much good as it's rare to have a tolerable day. Many thanks
Hi Glenn.. thanks for your reply. Iv spoken to my GP and she wants me to take Venlafaxine(37.5mg) the lowest dose off this med along with the citelopram while im weening myself off it for two weeks then the Venlafaxine will be my new med! Very nervous mixing the two meds also very nervous to see how these work! Will defo keep u up to date
