hi all, doi g really well here in Rehab, get PT everyday with massages, so pleased i stayed.
Just one question, i am onky 25% weight bearing on my op leg, could you all fully weight bare at 19 days , I had Anterior done, i know its different to posterior. If so how did you all do it? she put me on a measuring scale. thanks all xx
Lynn, I was posterior done, uncemented, ceramic. Partial weight for 3 weeks then full weight! I'm 7 weeks post op & doing ok. After six weeks was told to throw away the high toilet seat & could sleep on my side, thought that was great but kinda hurts still sleeping on operated side, sleeping on other side ok ish but I put pillow in between legs. Different excercises now from Physio, I can bend anyway I like & she said more movement will come with the new hip as time goes on. I'm doing ok & will return to work on the 19th Sept. When I drive it still feels like I'm sitting on a walnut but that's got better over the last two weeks.
Everyone is different. UR PT is best to help u work toward that goal.
Hi Martin we had our ops the same day and seem to be on parr with our recovery just wondered what excercises you were given post 6 weeks as I have none !!

Hi Anette, I had mine on the 20/6, you too huh? Well, I got given a booklet with the ones inside it to do, but have been replaced now, I'll try & describe them! Ok, lie on your good side (non op) & put your legs together & bring them up so you are in like the fetal position, with your knees together raise the operated leg but just from the knee area at the same time making sure your operated hip is pointing forward! You won't enable to open far but you can really feel it! The other is like the one in the book where you stand with your hands on the back of the chair, feet together & just take the operated leg out to the side but this time you are on the floor on your side so you are raising the keg up in the air, you can feel this more than standing & doing it because you are going against gravity! Whilst the operated leg is in the air swing it backwards & forwards.........theses are all good to strengthen around the hip & your bum! 
I would NEVER throw away high toilet riser....it's a lifesaver even after replacement and I'm going on 4 yrs post op....when I go to other people's houses and no high toilet, it's a stress for me to get off and up on my feet, really have to work at it...
Thinking back to my early days in 2010 of replacement and I had Anterior, I was able to do leg bearing pretty quickly..
I did my PT work faithfully and to this day still do them, I exercised all my life, so perhaps I was just stronger, don't know.
It will get better and better, 19 days is not much at all. j
Well not throw, it's in the garage, it has a frame, it's like a high toilet seat commode thing, we keep it for the mother in law who's 80
thanks Martin will give them a try!!! Don't get my 1st check up until Wednesday so will see what my consultant says , fingers crossed all is as it should be .

Isn't the weight bearing to do with cemented or uncemented hip?
No with the individual recovery period. Takes time to rebuild muscle and strengthen ligaments.
