Hi I suffered from depression 5 years ago and was prescribed cetralene. it worked amazingly well after 3 weeks . The downside was a year on I had gained 2.5 st which was a real shock! Anyway I figured at least I am well, It then took me 2 years to lose the weight after coming off the medication with lots of hard work. Anyway I am now suffering again and asked the doctor if he could try me on an alternative to avoid weight gain, he recommended citalpram but didn't really seem to think any really caused weight gain. Do any have experience of weight gain with citalopram? I saw wellbutren is supposed to be the best but two doctors I spoke to had not heard of it x

Hi mel ive been on citrilopram 2 months 10 mg and lost a stone and half but im also on levothyroxine 75 mg which can also make you loose weight and effect uour appitite so to be honest dont realy know which one is causing the weight loss . how long you been on citrilopram and how are you getting on with it .
Some people do gain weight on Citalopram, some don't. Everyone's different. I have read that Escitalopram is the one that least puts weight on.
