Full hysterectomy due to cervical cancer
Thrown into early menopause yuk, hard, feel lost at times!!!
Weight gain, has everyone gained weight?
When you google it, they say menopause doesn’t cause weight gain
I literally feel like it goes on daily 😪

hi Emma
I have gained weight also. menapause does cause it in some women. I am 5'2 and have never weighed more then 105 pds. since I started meni 4 years ago I have gained 35 pds! nothing I have tried has worked to get it off. it's a wonderful journey we are on isnt it? 🙄
Has your doctor suggested any HRT? Know sometimes that can cause weight gain. Feel like my metabolism has gotten as slow as a snail! My weight has definitely gone up about 15 pounds over the last several years. Some days I just look at something and I am up or down in weight. Takes much more effort to lose, more exercise which is hard some days due to all the aches, pains and fatigue! Hang in there and please know you are amongst an awesome group of women who know everything here. Have learned quite a bit on this forum.
OMG! Looking in the mirror is a nightmare these days. My mid section, arms, etc. Was always WAY skinny. Could just not eat for a day and lose weight. No more. Now a belly and a gut. It's AWFUL!
Yes.. I'm defiantly more plump these days which I think makes me want to stay in the house more. And then there are others who lose weight and say their skin and bones. I guess we are all different.
Hi Emma
It is common to gain weight during perimenopause and menopause (for the first few years during full menopause that us) Our bodies are programmed ro keep a hormone balance if a source of these hormones is taken away then another source is created. Fat stores provide estradol a form of estrogen so our bodies lay down fat (normally around waistline and breasts) so when you had your uterus removed a source of estrogen was taken. Cut down on carbs & sugar this will help.
Dear emma
I was going into menopause and had my ovaries out due to family history, all was well for about six months after sugery, i was eating etc normally like i always did and swimming three days a week but i suddenly noticed weight on my hips. My shirt suddenly seemed tighter. I always thought middle age spread happened to people who didnt exercise and ate more than they should but this proved that i hadn't changed anything but still vained the weight. I realise now that i cant eat as much as i did, so i cut carbs in the week to help balance it out.
Yes ditto, exactly the same
I literally feel it’s going on daily
Have always been very active, work full time, on my feet all day, don’t stop
I’m vegetarian, so watch what I eat etc
Clothes just not fitting, makes you feel miserable, on top of everything else!!!!!
This group is very supportive ❣️
Weight gain aaaahhhhh,
Try to stay fit, swimming, work full time etc, but nothing seems to help
Feels like it goes on daily some days, around the hips!!!!😪
