Weight Loss

okay. so i started a new job at walmart where i work 8 hour shifts and am standing up literally all day.

ive lost so much weight since starting that job in June and the logical side in me says it's fine and since i'm so young, i'm obviously gonna lose weight. im not eating near as much as i used to and i don't get to just nap.

i used to do nothing but sleep and eat and now i'm just dropping the weight off. but now, i keep thinking i have cancer. such as leukemia. but i don't have any weird bleeding or anything just the weight loss. and i have a bruise on my thigh. i get headaches too sometimes.

leukemia doesn't run in my family nor does any kind of cancer (besides colon) i just get the idea that something is wrong with me and then freak out and google. im not sure im just really freaking out right now.

has anybody else ever lost a lot of weight after changing lifestyles ???

Weight loss is a serious symptom when it can not be explained.  In your case, the first thing you provided was a reason for weight loss.

The only time a doctor will tell you to be alarmed about weight loss is when you change nothing in your way or life, diet, medication, etc, yet are dropping weight quickly.

Hi, I am signed off work with Chronic Anxiety and Depression.

Whilst off work I eat a lot less as my meds take the edge off my appetite and I excersise way more as I do a 4-5 mile country walk most nights to try and release some feel good endorphins, I have lost 9kg (20lbs) in 10 weeks, I was not overweight to begin with but my doc is fine because of me eating less and excercising more as it sounds you are doing too.

Bodyweight is a simple balance between Calories in and Calories expended if there has been a change in that balance then a change in bodyweight will prevail, if there has been no lifestyle changes and weightloss occurs then Doc would most probably do some checks and tests to find out the cause.

You'll be fine

All the best

Hi Leah you have said it yourself you did nothing but eat and sleep now you are working which means you are more active and eating less that is all it takes to lose weight. You need to stop googling and try to treat your anxiety.Find ways to relax your mind and do not feed into the thoughts of health anxiety. If these thoughts increase go and get treatment for your anxiety.

Hi Leah, it's quite simple, you've gone from a sedentary lifestyle, doing nothing and where you ate a lot to a job which involves plenty moving around (exercise) and not eating as much so your burning more calories than your putting in put the two together and you've got weight loss.

No cancer, no leukaemia just a healthier lifestyle, your fitter now than before.

Re bruise, you could have just knocked your leg whilst working nothing serious, your headaches probably dehydration if your working in air conditioned place, or simply not eating enough.

Dont worry Leah, everything is ok. Neil
