I had the surgery one week ago. I suffered awaful pain for the first 36 hours, then nothing awful afterthat unless I used the hand by mistake. The thumb and palm area is still slightly swollen, but otherwise things look good. I am getting these unexplainable sensations all through my hand... not constant, randomly. Sometimes it feels like an internal tickle, somtimes a knife jab, sometimes like an electric shock and also like a bug on me. I haven't heard anyone else experience this??
Yes, the very same to me, not to worry, this will disappear, very slowly with time. Its been 2 months with one, 1 month with the other. If I use it too much, same thing will happen. rest up, take time, it will get better!!!
Hi Heather - I had those random "electrical shock" pains/pulses for the first two or three months post op. All of that subsided. I think the "tickle" you're describing is the healing process. Yes, the knife jab too. I agree with Sandra. All of this will subside soon. Be well. Glenn
I get the same thing Heather...both hands. One I had done 2 yrs ago, the other I had done 2 months ago. It bytes
Thank you for the responses... I'm glad to hear that others felt this too- well not glad. I got the stitches out on day 12 (Tuesday) and everything seemed fine until today. It has been really hurting. It feels like someone is hitting the incision area with a hammer or stabbing it. Is this normal? I thought everything was good.
Hi again Heather - I remember when my stitches came out I felt let down that the pain you are describing was what I felt also.. The hands are trying to heal and you will experience a variety of pain signals. Some quite distressing. I remember asking myself, where'd that come from. It's going to take a solid four months before you feel close to normal. Here I am six months later and still get a reminder in my hands that I had the surgery. Our bodies are constantly at work trying to heal the residual effects of surgery. You will be fine.....
Thank you Glenn. It is so comforting to hear that someone else has experienced the same thing and to know that there is an end to it. this is probably the best info site on the net.
