This little red spot appeared on my penis shaft a couple days ago.
I am sexually active and use condoms. It doesn't hurt or itch and you can't really feel it when you rub a finger over it, but it is still concerning either way. I haven't had any other breakouts or any other STDs.
I can’t quite tell from the photo, but is the spot surrounded by dried or dead skin cells? The spot itself could be Herpes as the HSV-2 virus can be present in the majority of some populations.
However, it could be an indicator that you have a dermatological issue going on or perhaps the beginnings of a skin actual condition.
You know about not using soap on your penis I take it? When showering you need to ensure cleansers (shower gel, hair shampoo, etc) are thoroughly rinsed from your entire groin region.Wash the head area of your penis with running water only at the end of a shower, then pat dry with a towel as soon as you get out of the shower.
Check for signs of dry skin elsewhere on the penis, scrotum and surrounding areas such as the perineum. If you are using condoms quite regularly you need to wash the entire penis skin surface once you have removed the condom - never leave ‘clearing up’ until the following morning as this could eventually cause substantial skin irritation and perhaps lead to a skin condition.
Even if you have not got much dried skin in the genital region I would look out a natural plant based extract to hydrate the skin of the entire area - try Coconut Oil or Aloe Vera Gel. Use this after you have showered, and certainly following use of condoms or masturbation …
