Weird

i have 2 strange symptoms that i am unsure if they are peri related or if there is something totally different going on. my sacroiliac joint is constantly inflammed and is sensitive to touch, rubbing, etc. chiropractor told me she could tell it was inflamed. also my eyesight has not just gotten blurrier but I'm much more sensitive to light. Can anyone relate to either of these symptoms???

I can relate to you eye problem. My eyes have gotten very bad. Light bothers me, I have blurry vision and a bunch of floaters like spider webs.
I have not seen a chiropractor but my joints have been acting out.

my eyesight is getting really bad

Eyesight is getting worse , eyes are very dry and much more blurry.. Joints become more inflamed.. Also diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, I believe all has to do with the decline in hormones..

I have both of these issues too, with nothing else to blame them on!! Ugh, hang in there!!

Yes my vision is much blurrier as well..

I have had this joint pain early on in perimenopausal, although at the time I did not realise it was a symptom. definitely have suffered with deteriorating eyesight.

thank you for your response! so good to know im not alone!

thank you!

thank you!

This sacroiliac pain is how my symptoms started 3 years ago. I felt as though my hip was totally out of line and the pain came from my sac joint. I went to see various chiropractors thinking that I had somehow knocked it out of place. They all said there was inflamation in the joint but did also say that you would of noticed if you had somehow knocked your SI joint out as it takes an awful of pressure. The pain was unbearable. I went to my gp & got an xray - nothing! Eventually Ii was referred to see a consultant physio who deals primarily in hips, backs & knees. He did all the muscle strenght tests & said there was nothing wrong with my muscles. He said its probably my hormones & told me to get blood tests for menopause. He said he sees so many fit & health women come to him & explain that they suddenly cant walk due to hip pains. I got tested, I was in peri but I had not even thought about the menopause. My estrogen levels were on the floor. I had a discussion about hrt & my gp & I agreed I would go on it. After just 2 weeks of being on the hrt tablets (elleste duet conti) I was feeling great. No pain at all, anywhere.
I’m not saying that hrt is the answer to your problems, but my god, it worked in an instant for me. Go & speak to your doc. Good luck. x

Yes Sensitivity to light was symptom of peri and still in menpause plus migraine auras too, oh and dry eyes!

wow!! that is amazing! thank you so much for your response!

can you explain what migraine auras are??

thank you so much!

My eyes are my main complaint. Since my first migraine with aura a few months ago, my eyesight has drastically declined. Blurriness, floaters, flashes, extreme light sensitivity, wavy lines, fishbowl effect, random glowing dots, etc.. It has been a nightmare.

thank you so much for your response! can you explain your migraine auras to me??

I was at work (school) and felt great. I was on the third day of a heavy period. All of a sudden my vision went odd as if I looked at something bright and looked away. I kept blinking. Next, I saw a scintillating scotoma, which resembled a water drop on a glass. It was round and I could not see through it. That spot grew quite large and formed a colorful jagged edge. The colors were bright and intense and moving…think kaleidoscope. Eventually, it began to break apart and my entire vision was filled with colorful triangles. Then, I had like black clouds and then my eyesight came back. During the episode, I also had tunnel vision and speech impairment. But, I am not sure if that was part of the aura or was panic. I didn’t know auras existed, so when it was happening to me it was frightening. It lasted a solid 30 minutes.

Three days later, I woke up and it was dark. I looked at my iPhone and the words were all blurry. Then, I saw like white cobwebs. Then, the fortress aura started. It was less intense than the first episode. It started as a circle with a zigzag colorful border, but morphed into a jagged C-shape with a bright blue light at the edge.

Two days after the second, I was at the doctors office in the waiting room and had my third aura. It was less intense than the first two. It was a circle with a zigzag colorful border.

I have had visual disturbances since the auras. I was certain that something was wrong with me to have this occur, but while I was on leave from work, I found out two co-workers also experienced their first auras within weeks of mine at school. So, I really don’t know what to think.

wow! i am sorry you went through this but i have to tell you-this makes me feel so much better. i have had 2 very similar circumstances. FREAKED ME OUT!!! i have had other things going on that we still dont have a definitive answer for so when the aura happened a few days ago i just about came unglued.
have you been told that these are from hormonal imbalance?

I have not been told the cause of the auras. Doctors do not seem overly concerned with them. I have been told, “…they won’t kill me.” The only person to allude to hormones is my neurologist. He said, “I see a lot of women your age for the first time.”
