Hi I've done this test call Western Bolt(Immunobolt).
And the result came back positive for both HSV1 and HSV2
It is an Igg type specific test for both HSV1 and HSV2
I would like to know is this the same as the Western Bolt test at Seattle University.
My result is shown as below
Molecular weight--gC-1:130kDa(gC1) --Intensity : 78(Positive)
Molecular weight--gG-1:60kDa(gG1) --Intensity : 28(Positive)
Molecular weight--gG-2(gG2) --Intensity : 32(Positive)

As far as I know, when HSV experts talk about the western blot as being the gold standard for herpes testing, they are only referring to the one from the University of Washington, which you or your doctor would have to directly request through them or Westover Heights, etc. Ask your clinic which WB you had done. Other WBs are no doubt pretty good, too, especially since they are IgG-based.
I've never heard of these but I'm new to this. I'd like to follow your responses.
The western blot I've done is in HK. I'm not sure how they did the test with my blood, but I'm pretty sure it was not done in Seattle since the test result was given to me in around 2 days time.
So does it mean Western Bolt test can be done else where other than Seattle University. BUT those are not count as the Golden standard?(I understand that they can still be very good and accurate test)
No, doesn't sounds like it. I'm guessing it's the EuroImmun immunoblot, which is a reputable German brand that can be performed in any lab, but with little discussions about it online, because most tests discussed online are US ones. Did you also test positive by swab?
No I did not take the swab test as I never have any symtoms. But I did take the HSV2 ELISA Euroimmun test and got positive result.
No. That is not the "Gold Standard" Western Blot. The WB test does not have a number result, it will only be listed as Positive or Negative. The WB is ONLY performed at the University of Washington.
I do not know what test you had completed, but you can call the university and request a kit. You'll have to get your blood drawn and overnight mail it to them. The results will take 2-3 weeks but they are considered definitive at 16 weeks post exposure.
