Hi, For the last 5 years my penis feels chronically uncomfortable. It always feels wet/moist but it actually isn't, my scrotum also tingles everyday. The only time I do not feel this horrible sensation is when I'm at home in PJ's or in bed, when I'm out and about I have the feeling. The wetness feeling if worse when staying still, when I'm excersising in anyway I do not feel it as much. Have any of you had this feeling before, and how did you resolve it? This sensation is controlling my life. Thanks Jack
Could you be confusing the wetness feeling for coldness I wonder? Do you get cold / tingling feelings elsewhere on the body, such as in the fingers, or perhaps you get coldness (or wetness feelings as you say) in the feet, or anywhere below the knees during the night when you are sleeping?
I had this tingling sensation in my scrotum and penis - I also used to get chronic Raynaudās Dissease where my fingers, and particularly in the morning, my toes would turn completely white and numb.
I wonder if you are an anxious person at all? Perhaps if you are under regular stress from work, or perhaps you are an Academic?
I found the best way of dealing with ALL MY negative symptoms I have mentioned is as follows:
- make sure you keep your body warm at all (could this be where your PJās are helping???)
- you need to find the right balance of regular exercise that works for you. You may be doing exercise, but it is either not strenuous enough, or sufficiently regular enough
- attend to making sure you have a balanced healthy diet.
- if you are under stress for whatever reason, it may be about finding the right balance between work and life. Part of this is the regular recreational activities you have - some people find things like Yoga, or ājust getting away from it allā on a regular basis works really well for them ā¦
- If you have not sought Professional Medical opinion on this then do so. You may have a circulation problem and these are warning symptoms that you really need to get a professional opinion on ⦠If in doubt, DO NOT take a risk that it is nothing to worry about - 5 years is too long for this to be going on ā¦
PS: when I say " make sure you keep your body warm at all " - I do mean AT ALL TIMES, the best guide is it is better to be slightly too warm than regularly letting your body feel cold ā¦
Hi Dugie,
I am always warm, Iām always in a jumper at work, even when itās summer lol. The underwear I wear is tight and snug, I am not confusing the wetness sensation for a cold feeling, it literally feels like theres a drop at the end of penis (even though there isnāt)
Iāll go through your points with my input.
-
My body is always warm, I believe my trousers can effect the feeling, for example, in trouses the feeling is very bad, in jeans a bit better, and in trackies not too bad, but still noticeable. I work in an office so obviously have to wear trousers for the of the week.
-
Iām very fit - I do 150 pushups a day, cycle 6 miles a day and also walk quite a bit when I go for lunch, physically speaking I am in good shape.
-
Diet, my diet is appaling it is is something I will be changing over the next 4 weeks to see if anything changes, I rarely eat fruit, and only have vegetables sometimes (Couple times a week in dinners)
-
Stress, No I am a very chill person. The only thing I am stressing over if this feeling, I also have pain but I have addressed that in another forum, I believe itās all linked up.
-
I saw a doctor in August, got a referral to pain management who I am still waiting to see.
-
I also get the wet tingling sensations in my Penis. I do however have hundreds of muscle twitches every day, which occur everywhere in my body (Even my penis sometimes twitches, itās really oddā¦)
Kind Regards.
Jack
I only get the wet tinging feeling in my penis/balls, no where else in my body.
Very interesting! Two things I would immediately suggest:
- as you say you cannot do anything about having to wear trousers in the office. How tight of loose they are you have choice over. Also, how tight or loose your underwear is you can try different ones until you find the right level of ā best comfort ā for you wear at work. I needed to do this. I tried boxers, then briefs, a sports style underwear, and even not so tight thin running shorts.
- Finding the balance between supporting your scrotum and penis can be essential if you are currently wearing loose boxer shorts, of if whatever you wear gives no, or insufficient support.
The cycling and fitness regime you have too is interesting. I used to do gym 3 or 4 times a week then either do strenuous walks or mountain biking at weekends.
You may need to find a Sports and Exercise analyst in your area to help you, ultimately in finding out what is going on for you. Many universities have such departments who ask for volunteers for their advanced students to analyseparticular issues. - if this is not possible you need to start looking at what is happening when you are cycling as seating position and saddle ergonomics are crucial with issues such as this. Perhaps even your pedal reach is too extended - adjusting the working length of your cycle-stroke, or even swapping to a different cycle seat can achieve a complete solution to this.
- many of the larger cycle stores to have a specialist bike set-up to analyse how you ergonomically ā fit ā with your bike, so ask around about this ā¦
Yes, you may say you are only on the bike for pert of the day, but the impact can be almost permanent until you put right what is causing this phenomena. ALSO note: many people do not find a solution by doing one change, there may be several things working together.
For me what worked was changing my exercise regime, in terms of different exercises as well as my usual ones, finding the right pedal to saddle ratio, changing to a different saddle - and no, this does not mean a well-cushioned one - some of the things I sit on, on a bike are extremely uncomfortable, but work really well!
Then, by trying different types of underwear, perhaps going to the extent of finding ones that work best when you wear trousers, or changing the tightness of fit in the crotch region can work wonders ⦠Good Luck ā¦
Hi Again,
I have tried underwear and tight underwear is a lot better than loose. my genitals are very secure and wouldnāt even bounce around if I jump up and down haha.
My Doctor did suggest to stop cycling for 6 weeks, but I cannot to this as itās how I get to my job each day. I did however, go 2 weeks straight without sitting down on my bike just incase it was the seat causing the issues, this didnāt do anything for me. Over the years I have had 4 different bikes & have had the sensation with all of them.
Not sure if I already mentioned this or not, but I do have pain in areas down below as well. I have chronic Anal pain, buttocks pack, (right thigh pain) and my penis stings every now and then, also if I stay in bed for longer than I normally do, my Left testicle starts to ache a lot, that clears when I get out of bed.
Also for the first 3 months of my Job, I just got lifts from my friend and wasnāt cycling at all, I had the sensation at that time as well.
- Iāll just have to wait and see what the hospital specialists plan on doing when I visit them next month.
Hopefully the Specialist will come up with something as you simply have too many symptoms going on and the source of the problem needs to be identified and addressed ā¦
Hello, Iām having a similar experience and didnāt find much online. I wondered if you ever got an answer for this? I get a sense its nerve related. Please let me know either way Iām losing my mind over it just like you.
Not the answer youāre hoping to hear.
NOPE. Itās still the same. But now itās catered by Tingling balls & burning in my legs/arse.
I went to pain management, they did a pudendal nerve block which did nothing, also the meds I take donāt really do anything to it (Gabapentin, Pregabalin)
Iāve tried loads of exercises to try help it (stretches, poses, workouts, weight lifting) and nothing really helps tbh
Jack
Hi Jack,
Sorry this is long, but let me get this all off my chest and maybe thereās some tidbitās in here that can help us both find an answer. I thin this is a very specific thing that doctors just donāt know enough about.
First.. Thanks for responding. Lets compare notes as it seems were the only to people online with these bizarre issues. Iāve googled like crazy and canāt seem to find anything relating to this. Iāve been apprehensive to start going to doctors because Iām not sure I know how to explain it well enough. Let me tell you what Iām experiencing and when it started etc.
In January I went to the urologist because I had this weird ammonia smell emitting from my armpit and some abdominal pain (internet told me it might be my kidneys.) Those things cleared up by themselves eventually but while I was there he tested my prostate and said it was a little āboggyā - he ordered a PSA (prostate cancer test) and told me it was probably Prostatitis and that it would clear up by itself. Unfortunately I had to wait 2 months to receive my PSA results and was under an enormous amount of stress thinking I had prostate cancer. (did I mention Iām a bit of an anxious bloke?)
The one thing worth mentioning is that during this entire time (2 months) I didnāt have ANY prostate symptoms (frequent urination, pain, burning etc.) I felt great⦠except I was super stressed about my PSA result.
Anyway, mid February about a month and a half after my urologist visit i muddied up the waters big time. This is embarrassing to admit, but while I was getting oral sex from my wife I squeezed the base of my penis to make the head expand more and held it for a few minutes. It didnāt hurt while I was doing it but there was lots of pressure. When I ejaculated it felt like 4 electric shocks going off after each other in my shaft. The next day my penis was very retracted and injured looking, kind of like when you are young and you play with yourself too often. I had constant sensation in my penis and I felt like I was dribbling constantly/wetting myself. I was also feeling dribbles hitting my leg.
2 weeks later I finally had my follow up with urologist - he informed me that my PSA was only 0.9 and that my abdomen ultrasound came back fine. I told him what had happened since last seeing him and he said that I may have injured something in my penis, but that the symptoms I was reporting sounded like prostatitis still and I should take a course of antibiotics just in case.
It was two weeks into my antibiotics when I realized my dribbling wasnāt actually real!!! I felt a drop hit my leg and realized, thereās no way that could have hit my leg, so I inspected my leg and my penis and found they were both completely dry!!! Sound familiar? So from that point on I now understood that I wasnāt actually dribbling but I was getting the SENSATION of a dribble/wet penis. It feels exactly like you describe, like thereās a drop of pee at the end of my penis but its bone dry. I have sometimes wondered if Iām confusing cold for wet, but WET is definitely what it feels like.
If I lay down flat it all goes away. In fact its usually not there in the morning but slowly comes on as Iām up and about and moving around. Its worse if I sit with my knees up (to me that seems like thereās pressure on something)
I donāt have the tingling balls like you describe or the pain in my bum or legs (yet) but I do have a weird feeling that my poo isnāt the same, like its more difficult to push out, almost like I donāt have the same strength.
I am feeling a little lower back pain. Iām also getting what feels like cold water drops randomly on my body. My legs my neck, arms, feet, chest, face sometimes.. everywhere. This is the symptom that has stressed me out the most. When I google it, its called paresthesia and its usually from nerve damage (MS, Diabetes , and B12 deficiency causes nerve damage.. and maybe squeezing your penis too hard, lol) So of course now Iām constantly worried I have MS and Iām in perpetual misery.
**parĀ·esĀ·theĀ·siĀ·a
**an abnormal sensation, typically tingling or pricking (āpins and needlesā), caused chiefly by pressure on or damage to peripheral nerves.
None of this was happening until I squeezed my penis in February and felt those electric shocks. So Iāve assumed its related to nerves , that I maybe damaged a nerve in my penis and now my body is misreporting the sensation of wetness. Especially since Iām having these body sensations. Its super ironic that I went to a urologist ahead of all this and he suspected prostatitis, but as I said I had none of the symptoms associated with that.
Anyway, Iām not sure if youāve looked into the prostate side of things or the nerve side of things but id be curious to know what tests youāve had thus far and Iām contemplating my next move.. either general doctor, urologist or neurologist.
Have you tested for diabetes or ms, or b12 deficiency? Had an MRI or any x-rays etc. Howās your prostate? I read diabetes can cause penis issues due to nerve damage (Iām fit and healthy like you so diabetes seems way off my radar but i think its worth checking)
I do get a sense that some of this is stress related as I was under a LOT this past 6 months, but I canāt omit the boggy prostate or the bedroom injury.
Whatās weird for me is, if I drink a bottle of wine all my symptoms go away, no dribbly penis or body zaps. Obviously I cant just stay in a drunken stupor the rest of my life, but I find it interesting that it goes away when drinking alcohol. People say it must be stress then, but honestly i think Iām just numbing things with the booze cus it all comes back the next day and Iāve worked really hard on my anxiety levels to no avail.
So , is there anything in here that sounds familiar. I definitely see some parallels (dribbles that arenāt there, tingles etc)
Looking forward to your response.
Itās funny you mention being tested for Diabetes and Vitamin B-12 because I literally had blood tests for those two things a few weeks ago. Like you, Iām fit so Diabetes was all clear, however I was low on Vitamin B-12 and also my Folic acid, so Iām on supplements now.
The reason I had bloods taken was due to tingling all over my body, in my legs, feet & head mainly. Iāve been on the supplements for only 2 weeks so wonāt know if that was causing those issues for a while yet. I did go to the urologist a few years back, he didnāt even bother checking my prostate tbh, I was only 18 or 19 when I went and none of my symptoms were really related to by prostate tbh. If I did have my prostate checked Iād suspect itād be fine because functionality speaking, itās working just fine. No pain when pissing/ejaculating etc.. Just general chronic pain.
He did refer me onto the MRI department. I had 2 MRIās (I was also in pain at this point - down my legs, arse, surrounding areas) and they both came back fine. One was for my pelvic, all clear, and the other for my lower back - They said a disc was slightly out but nothing thatād cause issues. The wetness feeling came on gradually for me, over years. I was only like 14 when it first happened, and as you describe, just felt wet even though it isnāt. I used/still use tissue as padding as it makes the wetness not as bad. But back then itād be pretty bad during the first part of the day then completely go at around 6, 7pm. Iād completely forget about it. But a few years later, Iād say when I was in college it started to become chronic, and ever since then itās just been there everyday. Iām 21 now, 22 in July and itās not any better. I have no idea whatās caused it, doctors frankly sound clueless and uneducated so Iām at some what of a loss. Itās also important to note Iām a virgin so this isnāt something thatās happened due to any sexual activity. Might be worth seeing if you can go on gabapentin, thatās the only med thatās kind of helped ease my symptoms. I was on 600mg x3 a day, but now Iām giving Pregabalin a go, itās a similar drug so might be worth giving it a shot, Iām only on a very low dose atm but Iām speaking to my dr on the 9th and will ask for it to be upped a lot.
Jack
Oh, well look at that, so you are having the tingling in your body like I am also!!! What does that feel like?
For me its like cold water is dripping on me or sometimes its like a splash of water, but maybe thatās how Iām interpreting it. Lately it feels more like tingles.
And you are low on b12.. I really hope that solves things for you.
Iām going to go get my b12 tested and find out. These similarities are basically identical from the sound of things.
Iāve heard that if you are low on b12 then you have to get shots of b12 to bring the numbers up and that supplements arenāt efficient enough. I may be wrong on that but thatās my understanding.
I found a lady online who had the tingles on her body like we do and the doctor gave her super high doses of b12 and it went away, so maybe there are better pills you can get other than over the counter supplements.
As for the prostate, I keep hearing this over and over, that doctors wont even check because "youāre too young. " My friends father had prostate cancer and so my friend went to get checked himself to see if he was at risk and the doctor laughed him away as he was ātoo youngā. He had to really push back to get the test and guess what, it was enlarged and the doctor had egg on his face. So even though you are young, Iād highly recommend trying to get at least a digital exam to see how your prostate is. Mine was a little boggy (which I guess means soft to the touch) and the urologists suspected prostatitis.
And finally, I also read about someone with a slipped disc causing the tingling - so I wouldnāt rule that out even though they told you otherwise. It really could be causing all these different issues?
Thanks for responding. Iāll follow up when I know more. Good luck with the b12 and definitely look into whether the supplements your on are adequate as that might be the make it or break it solution.
I know we are both in a mess, but I do feel a little relief that thereās someone out there, it been maddening trying to explain this all to people (they all think Iām nuts)
Yeah, my tingling is just tingling, other than my penis, thatās what has the wet feeling, the tingling is just basically pins and needles elsewhere in my body.
I am in various forums and Iāve come across a couple other people with the wet feeling in their penis, but only a few over the years. If you have any breakthroughs feel free to post in here lol. I donāt use the website, I only saw your comment because I check my emails and it came up.
Jack
One more thing to add.
I have A LOT of cysts around my balls and perinum, I donāt know if they can cause this sort of wet feeling. Just a thought, and yes they are cysts I had my balls ultrasounded years ago
Ok good to know⦠Iām sorry youāve had to endure so much. I really hope things get better for you. Thanks for responding.
Ive just ordered a bunch of bloodwork (Iām doing it myself using an online service) - Iāve had a hunch about the b12 thing as Iāve messed around with my diet a lot. But if all that comes back clear then ill have to start visiting some doctors which I dread because Iām in America and they just tend to throw pills at you and send you on your way (Iām originally from the UK ).
Alright mate - take care !
Yes Iāve heard healthcare isnāt the greatest over there. Good luck, Iām sure weāll both be fine soon. Just need to keep trying different thingsā¦
All the best!!!
Sorry to bother you again, but a couple things just came to mind i forgot to ask.
You mentioned that you found others with the āwet penisā sensation. Did they shed any light on how they got there or any test results - any parallels to you or me?
Also, sorry if this is personal, but do you think that you may have āinjuredā yourself ādown thereā by being too rough when you were younger? Sorry for the question, but as I say my issue only began after I was a bit too rough with myself. I swear Iāve damaged a nerve or something.
And finally, you seem to have gone down the ānerveā path. Iām not that educated on nerves etc . would you care to go into that a bit for me (who you saw, what youāve had done - you mentioned medicine , is that for nerve pain?)
Sorry for the questions but I really think we might get close to figuring this out if we combine notes.
For the other person with this feeling, I didnāt talk to him much but something called DCT helped him with it. DCT is an exercise program created to treat pelvic pain, itās not something that worked for me however. But you can google it if you want.
I had a Pudendal Nerve block years ago. The pudendal nerve is the main nerve running through the penis and it branches off into your genitals, arse etc.. The nerve block is just meant to numb it but it didnāt do anything for me. I had the nerve block mainly because of the pain I have, didnāt really have it for the wet feeling.
And yes, Gabapentin is used for nerve pain. It does take the edge off things for me, so it may be something to try for you if you canāt get to the bottom of the wet feeling. Iām on 600mg x3 a day, with minimal side effects, if any.
The wet feeling came on out of nowhere. Just randomly as I was going about my day, wasnāt from being too rough with myself. And as I mentioned previously, just got worse as the years went on.
Jack
Thanks for answering. Youāve really been through a lot havenāt you ![]()
Your probably sick of me, and I think Iām out of questions for now, but one last one.
Iāve noticed that when I donāt start my day with a poo that I donāt have my symptoms of wet feeling penis. Once I poo, it comes on.
Have you noticed this yourself? And if it hasnāt crossed your mind, maybe look out for it. Give it a go one day.. see if you have your symptoms first thing in the morning or until you first use the bathroom and let me know. I swear this is something to do with it, like its a prostate or arse thing. Like something is being irritated.
For me I normally poo as soon as I wake up and have my coffee, but some days I donāt go till later and Iāve definitely noticed on those days that I donāt have my symptoms until i finally go number two. It just all comes on immediately after.
Last one, have you had a colonoscopy or anything checking your arse?
lol, what weird questions. Youāre a good sport for all your answers mate. Thanks again!
(oh and get your prostate checked . From reading all your posts and answers it seems like thatās one of the last stones unturned ![]()
Take care!
