What a 6 weeks

I had a hip revision 21st June. I week later I was back into hospital.

There I had 4 disclocations in a week. 10 days total bed rest,

With hip abduction brace. Had another revision surgery 18th July and two then day

Was ment to leave got blood clots in both lungs. Finally 4 weeks after 2nd admission

I'm home, still with abduction brace.

What a journey for a 46 year old with teenagers this has been

A hard 6 weeks. Brace on for another 2 weeks (4 weeks post op)

Trying hard to be positive and not scared of my new upgraded joint.

What an ordeal! Generally these ops go well but yours sounds like a complete disaster. I hope the latest surgery has sorted the problem and that your teenagers will spend the next few weeks looking after you.

Dear Nzander

You have had such a journey but seems you are on the right road now and home!

Let yourself be spoiled, take it steady but easy.

My 2nd replacement of 2 weeks ago still gives problems but they disappear compared to all you have been through.

With very best wishes for a speedy recovery now. X

My goodness that is an ordeal. Hope all goes smoothly for you now and that you are being well looked after.

Best wishes

Ann

Been there done that...Hated that ole abduction brace :-( but things did get better & no more dislocations or subluxations thankfully. You are in my thoughts & prayers. Take care Vickie Martin

I was 35 at the time of my 1st THR...

I'm now 64 & wore the artificial joints out being an orthopedic nurse and horseback riding :-) God bless.💙

Afternoon nzander. Welcome to the hip forum. Wow! You have been through a lot!! Do you know why you had so many dislocations? Did they do closed reduction each time your hip dislocated? How many revisions have you had? I dislocated my first hip replacement last year. 3 weeks 2 days later I'm having to have a total hip revision. I too had to use the abduction brace for 6 weeks when in bed. Was also non weight bearing, no hip exercises or hip flexion past 80 degrees. I'm now dealing with nerve pain and sensitivity in my thigh. Prayers for you that you heal and get stronger. Hugs 🤗Linda.

oh nzander,

indeed, what a journey ... was the right hardware used?  how can your hip dislocate so many times without you knowing it ... did the ball not fit the socket -

I went back to read your previous post and it seems that you have not been well with this hip for 4 years ...

Is it possible to get a 2nd opinion?

Big warm hug

renee

Hi, Amazing you must be a very focused and determine person, l'm 68 and nearly a month post first revision next one next year, l can only admire your strength and good luck for the future, Tony

Well Nzander you've managed to Top Trump most of us on here, I genuinely

feel for you it's hard enough going through an Op if the outcome is straight

Forward but this as a mum of pesky teenagers must be a nightmare.

Keep your chin up and ride the storm, i so hope you improve quickly. X

Hi. I sure knew about it when it disclocated. Just glad that I was still in hospital.

Can't discribe the pain. Surgeon said there was a large clot in the joint so that,

Might of caused it.

Hi. Surgeon said there was a large blood clot in joint, that could of caused it.

So have now had two revisions in a month. Don't need brace in bed, just wearing it during day.

Allowed 50% weight bearing .

Hi guys. Thanks for messages. Wore shoes for 1st time in 6 weeks today.

Two weeks left of brace then back to surgeon.
