As per previous posts decided to drive up into the North York Moors and stopped in Hutton Le Hole - a beautiful village which is very popular during the summer.
After parking up, having a picnic and a cup of coffee we took the kids for a walk through the village and across the stream - finishing with an ice cream and then back to the car(9 seater minibus)
Some scumbag had decided to smash one of my side windows in our new minibus and help themselves to my 15 year olds bag containing her iPad and other personal belongings. It wasn't visible from outside the car so perhaps they had been observing us before we left.
Anyway a lovely man from one of the local shops taped up the window for us and we headed back home very angry and upset.
Oh Mark what a shame, You have every right to be angry hope they catch them, was there any cctv anywhere about? . So glad you managed the walk though and on yer bike tomorrow xxxxxx
Yorkshire used to be such a beautiful place. Sorry this has happened to you.
May I suggest that you get an alarm fitted and a small video camera for future trips out. Video evedence is damming to those that do this sort of thing and denigh it. I hope you have reported it to the poilice. Maybe where you parked had video as most towns to these days and your criminal will be brought to justice. It is worth a try.
So sorry to hear of such an unpleasant incident on what should have been a lovely day out
I had my bag stolen from under the seat of my car a couple of years back- smashed the window while I was in a client's house for 15 mins. There was no one around when I left the car, but police said that thieves watch for women not carrying a handbag. If you haven't got one with you, they know it's in the car! I never leave my bag in the car now even if I am only leaving it for a few minutes
Yorkshire is still beautiful thankfully. Hutton-Le-Hole is fairly remote - the car park has an attendant but only until 14:00 in the afternoon on a weekend - we arrived at 14:15.
We reported it to the police but not a lot they can do really - said they get gangs coming from the big cities targetting tourists/visitors as they know stuff will be in the cars. Sad but it is what it is.
Window will only cost £50 to repair through insurance and won't impact on my no claims bonus so that's a 'positive'.
I'm looking into options for increasing the security of the bus - some fairly cheap and some not so cheap.
