I just came back from my 6-week follow-up. The surgeon is pleased with the progress, wants me to do PT, take a few short drives and short walks without the sticks for a few days and can go back to work full time next Thursday. As I had both hips done at the same time, do need to back in 6-weeks just to be sure all is well.
Hi dedorah, Thats great news good for you !!!
Take Care
Jackie
Sounds like good progress!
Tho', at 2 weeks post op I've successfully gone from two sticks to one, but, ZERO sticks....sounds impossible. Even if I did get there, as I know I'm supposed to, I imagine on a country walk on rough terrain like Dartmoor (say) I'd need a walking pole(or two ?
I'm amazed! I was told (all 3 times) that I shouldn't go back to work until 3 months.
Hi
that's great to hear, remember to listen to your body thou
good luck with your recovery
Dee xx 😊
Wow congratulations especially as you had both hips done at the same time. Hope all goes well next Thursday, just take care as you may be quite tired to begin with. Are you doing a phased return to work?
Linnet x
good news, well done, especially with 2 hips done.
I am going back full time, BUT, once I get my students, we work at the table for 30 minutes so there is rest time inbetween... Fridays I only have students in the morning and am meeting with a teacher in the afternoon
I am trying to take longer walks every day... today did about 90 minutes... I am more tired than I thought so very glad that I still have one more week to work on building back up
as Dee said, doc said "the same rules still apply, if it hurts do NOT do it" smile
edarling..... I had surgery from the front so no muscles cut....so far I feel good, ice still scares me but it is finally getting warm and melting so hopefully that will not be an issue much longer
slow and steady wins the race, right???
Great stuff. You GO Gal!!!
Well done Deborah. Take care though because it is easy to get carried away with the euphoria and do too much. Listen to your body are very wise words. I was so excited when the consultant told me I could carry on more or less as normal, with care, that I over did things!! Enjoy your new hips.
Absolutely ! 😄
Good advice! I will keep it in mind!
well done,,, bet you feel brilliant and relieved that youre nearly back to normal. hope i recover as quick, not even got a date yet tho.
keep it up.and take care x
