I am 46 and had the contraceptive implant in my arm for nearly 3 years, I have started having periods again, and I do suffer severe depression /bipolar, could I be going through the change already?
Hi, I don't know too much on a personal level about contraceptI've implants but I do know they last for about 3 years so it could be that it is no longer active so your normal cycle has restarted and you need a replacement.
46 is certainly not too early to begin the perimenopause. I was about that age when mine started. My periods were very erratic for about 4 years and have been period free for roughly a year.
Hi Dee, thankyou for comment, I have been wandering that it could b implant as b 3years this October, I still haven't ruled out that I could b starting menopause too, I see nurse week Monday as due a smear so will mention to het, thanks again 😊
I'm 46 and have had perimenopause symptoms since I was 40. It started with hot night sweats and migraine. It then got replaced this year with heart palpitations and anxiety. My periods became more regular than they have been all my life.
I also started crying and feeling like doom was upon me for no reason. I asked myself what was wrong and couldn't find a reason, life is better than it has ever been.
So, yes, it could be the start of menopause but you need to see your doctor and rule out other causes.
Hi Fiona, thanks for your comment, I must admit I suffer depression and anxiety and it has got worse this past year, haven't had night sweats yet, but am going to see doctor tomorrow morning about the implant, thanks again 😊 x
