What are Eye Floater?

Hi,

I feel my eye floaters are spreading in term of count.

When I use computer these floaters become more visible.

I have heared floaters transforms from solid/thread-like shape to blurry/cloud-like form in span of time.

So, my eyes are in trouble? is there any way to remove floaters? would I go through removal surgery after next couple of years?

Also I feel like there is a very very light blurry spot in my left eye, I can not point out where it is or whats it shape but it feels like something is there. Its not irritating though, but it makes my vision a little high-contrast... sorry I can't explain in other words smile

If you spend a lot of time infront of a computer, your eyes could be dry, you could try ocular lubricants.

Have you been to see an Optometrist?  That might be a good place to start.  There might be nothing wrong, or, it could be something.  The Optometrist can examine your eye and refer you to the Ophthalmologists at your local eye clinic if necessary.

Thanks for replying,

Did you mean dryness is the cause of blurriness and floaters?

I spend more than 10 hours in front of computer screen.

thank you!

Dryness is the cause, or a cause, of blurriness.  When you are in front of a computer screen, or tv screen, you tend not to blink and blinking helps to lubricate your eyes.

Floatersa are 'floating bodies in the vitreous humour', dead cells that you can sometimes see floating around.  Often, they are of no consequence but occasionally, they can be a symptom of something more serious, which is why I suggested that you go to see an Optometrist, they can see into the back of your eye and check that there isn't anything going on that shouldn't be going on!

You can buy ocular lubricants over the counter.  If you ask your pharmacist, s/he would be able to recommend one.  Branded drops will be dearer to buy, like Optrex for example.

Your Optometrist will also be able to recommend one but again, you will probably be offered a more expensive branded one.
