Hi, I am new mom and wife really, husband has kidney failure 2012 it was only one this year 40% of kidneys working what can I do I have a 2yr old and 4 yr old he has been in hospital off and on since February and Now they put him on dialysis then send him home after flood has been removed then he stays out maybe 3wks he is filling up again
I am surprised that he is on dialysis when he still has 40% function. I have been as low as 29% but no dialysis. I am now up to 48% after stopping taking everything that contained anti inflammatory including creams. I do not have to see doctor unless I drop below 40%. Check what your husband is taking, including over the counter med, and change if necessary.
Hi panda he went in cause he noticed fluid building up again so the doctor checked bloodpressuer it was high they admitted him they will filter him due to high blood pressure but when he goes homes they take it out He isn't on dialiyis at home they just put it in at hospital
He takes lots of mess so many he throws up and they give him mess they push through his Iv it's to help reduce flood it makes him sick lately his stomach has pains do you go through this
I don't know what to expect next
Shannan- Sounds like you have your hands full and are stressed, which is only natural. My kidneys failed from stage 3 to stage5 in only a few months. I have many other complications(lung transplant which means antirejection meds, hep B & C, and diabetes from the antirejection meds. I started on hemodialisys, but changed to peritoneal and have really felt better. I have a strong appetite, and am starting to get stronger and gain weight. Enough about me.. Protien is key, a maximum of a teaspoon of salt daily, keep the potassium under control(binders) and phosphorus to a minimum. As I understand it, teh need for dialisys can begin at different times. We got married last Oct 4 and my feet were huge. Started dialisys in December(hemo). Its still not pleasant, but we are back, finally, to sex, my feet arenot like tree stumps and I enjoy life again. Hope this helps. Dialisys, as my PD nurse reminds me, isnt a cure, its a treatment, usually better done daily for me. After hemo I was wiped out. Now I get up, disconnect and go about my day.
