Hey guys, after spending much of spring weirded out and getting tests for all kinds of bizarre little pains (all of which came back as "stress"), and learning that these pains can even occur days after the stress or anxiety was triggered (this cleared up a lot, i kept thinking i was seriously ill, now i just wait it out like a rain storm lol), i got to thinking... What exactly causes these little pains - do we scientifically understand this yet? i get that much like a panic attack, while it feels serious and harmful, it isnt - but how does our body create this? Also bonus points for sharing what helped you shake these off! :) ps. apologies for hideous grammar, keyboard issues at the moment!
Sorry no one has gotten to this thread yet.
From what I have read it can be 3 things (though I’m sure theres much more).
- Tension: I’ve found that even when you think you are relaxing a group of muscles, you may only be relaxing the major group and it creates pain.
- Anxiety+deficiency: vitamin and mineral deficiencies can cause pains/cramps/weakness/etc, mix that cocktail with anxiety and hypersensitivity and you’ve got yourself some hypochondria with the addition of things like twitching and weird nerve issues.
- Cortisol: when we react to fear, we are reacting to cortisol (amongst a lack of serotonin). It is the ‘fight or flight’ chemical. With extended stress/anxiety, cortisol turns from an anti-inflammatory to a pro-inflammatory with extended releases. This causes chronic pain and possible inflammation.
What can you do to shake these off?
- Control your stress/anxiety (medication, meditation, stretching, etc)
- Proper diet and build up on magnesium, potassium, B-complex, Omega complex
- Some herbs, medicines, and foods help regulate cortisol but remember that when healthy, it is used for fighting inflammation.
I hope this answered your overdue question. ![]()
