What could be causing this dizziness?

Hi everyone, I came here about a week ago in fears of a brain tumor, today, I received my MRI and did an EEG and thank god, everything came back negative and in that department, im fine. However, im still suffering from dizziness all day, and vertigo sometimes when I lay down. I also get migraines with pain back in the back of my eyes and with head pressure in random spots of my head. Does anyone go through this as well? What other options is there for me to clear to get rid of this?

Its honestly depressing living like this, being dizzy sucks and its almost crippling as im sure many of you guys can relate with.. Any suggestions would be helpful so I can inquire about them with my doctor

It sounds like an inner ear thing to me. It's so hard to tell them all apart as symptoms over lap. It could be vestibular migraines, or vestibular neurits or even labyrinthitis (as all three have caused migraines for others I know). How long have u been suffering? I'm on month 7 with probably VN or labs

Hello Kurt

Have you been seen by an ENT? On U Tube there are easy Vestibular home Exercises that May Help with your vertigo . I still do mine everyday but only 30 sec. Two time a day.

Did they give you anything for the vertigo?

I also have Physical Therapy two time a week and it has helped a great deal, I have had a few good weeks since I started so try and stay positive.

Hope you feel better.☺

Hello,

I, too, have experienced what you have. For me it started May 2015 with terrible headaches all day long, and then the dizziness/vertigo kicked in. It's been a long, ugly road, extremely dibillitating, but what I can say is that I am now seeing periods of relief and can only pray that I will see more better days ahead. I tried vestibular testing with no true concrete answer to my ills. I am now left with a diagnosis of vestibular migraines. Stress and weather are my triggers. Surprising how stress can affect you, no matter how much you think you have it under control. I hope you feel better soon, try not to get too discouraged and believe in better days ahead.

Thats crazy.. I feel like we have EXACTLY the same problems.. I remember in the summer time, I would feel dizzy for a couple of days but never thought of it as anything serious since it would go away in a couple of days.. then I realized I only felt that way when it was extremely humid out. Now im feeling the symptoms again.. and its probably not a coincidence that i've been studying my butt off for midterms and dealing with all these extremely tough classes in my senior year of college..

Im headed into my third week now.. it really is a horrible way to live, im going to get my blood test results this wednesday as well, and then ill ask my doctor to refer to me to an ENT, hopefully they can figure something outf or me

Def sounds inner ear related. I'm a lot better than I was but it's a long recovery for some, but totally possible. Hang in there

Yeah, an inner ear problem makes sense. Sometimes I would feel extreme pressure inside my ears, and also felt like my ear wax was moving one time as I was moving my head around in bed. Have you been professionally diagnosed with an inner ear problem as well? If so, what are the treatments for this?

I'm finally In the process of seeing an ENT. But Iv done a lot of my own research and also I'm on a few support pages. Vestibular therapy is what u will need. There is some on you tube (home vestibular exercises)

Hi Angie,

I plan on getting a referral to an ENT this wednesday when I visit my doctor again. As for vertigo, my neurologist gave me low doses of valium to treat my anxiety, vertigo, dizziness, and also panic attacks.(I had one at night because I thought I was dying from a brain tumor)

Ill definetely check out the YouTube videos, thanks for the recommendation! Hope you're getting better as well if not already good!!

Oh man, they're going to put me through therapy? Like doing simple tasks that I should normally be able to do? Im only 21! Don't they just put me on some meds to get things back in order and im good to go?

Sadly no. If there was a simple fix like meds we would all be 100%. I'm 28 so I totally know how u feel. Look up the therapy online. It's not hard, it's like eye and head movements. Ur brain basically needs re training. But it's a good thing! It will help in ur recovery. I swear if I had started earlier I'd be better by now. Walking is also a good one.

So if they're just going to make me do excersies, should I just save myself the money and the trip and follow the YouTube videos? I def feel like walking is a good one, I feel at my best when im active, it really only kicks in when im sitting down. Im normally at the gym, or running, so when im active as well, I really dont feel it till I settle down. Anyways, it sounds horrible to say, but I feel better knowing im not alone as someone in their 20s with this annoying problem. I hope you're getting and feeling better smile Thanks for the advice!

Hi Kurt

My first episode started Dec. Of last year and they put me in every medication you can think of including steroids and nothing helped. In Sept of this year I got worse and made trips to E. R. I at least 3 trips a week to see my end.

I am 63 years old and was never sensitive to any medication. But everything they gave me made me feel worse as well as any antidepressants.

Because of all the great info I have received from people on this website I requested physical therapy and since my visits I Am having a normal life again.

I stopped all the medication and am only doing my exercises.

All my symptoms were because of my inner ear from having sinus infections all my adult life.

Stay positive you will get better. ☺

Like you i have pretty much the same issues  daily which are:

- Dizziness (more like feeling of imbalance)

- Headaches (pressure in both/either side of temples)

- Cricipharangeal Spasm (wax and wane)

I have been having these for almost a month now and i've seen 10 doctors and none are able to pin point the exact cause. From some comments here i've read that it might be an inner ear problem which an ENT which i saw says they look fine (i dont get any ear issues other than the occasional blocked hearing like you get from swimming).

Im at wits end and have spent a fortune on consultation fees.

U could start the exercises now at home but I'd still see the ENT as the exercises can be tailored to suit ur needs better :-) I find the ones online too easy now so I'm at a stand still!

Yeah I feel you, my dizziness isnt the type where I can walk, I can do my daily tasks fine, it literally just feels like im inbalanced as well. I also get a bit dizzy when I look around too fast, someone mentioned on this thread about youtubing videos, I did the 6 minute excercise and I swear I feel a little bit better already. The particular one that helped me was closing my eyes, and balancing myself on one foot. It sounds weird, but once I got myself to balance for 30 seconds with my eyes closed on one foot, I felt a ton better. Giving that a try for yourself wouldnt hurt either. Best of luck bro

Thanks for the YouTube tip. I'll definitely search for the exercise once I get home.

As for your symptoms, do you have headaches as well?

What tests have you done so far?

Grab magnesium oil for ur headaches it's a godsend

Headaches arent too much of a problem for me, i've been dealing with them my whole life so I really never counted it as a symptom for it. But my migraines includes pain behind my eyes, and head pressure/throbbing literally all over my head. Like one day it will be on top of my scalp, the next day itll be on the back of my head, side etc.

For my tests, im a huge hypochondriac so I was freaking out thinking I had a brain tumor, I demanded a MRI from my neurologist and had that done today, thank god he said im clear from a tumor or anything drastic like that. Also did an EEG to check how the activity level was going on in my brain. Once I was clear from anything life threatening, it was a huge relief and I felt almost better immediately.
