What do you think

I don't know about the rest of you but as someone who's had mental health problems for 30 odd years and suicidal tendencies I don't buy any of this stuff about that German pilot.when you want to commit suicide you want to get away from everything you know you will hurt you family but I think there is no. Way you would take another 150 people with you.if that was his plan he would have been agitated wondering when he was going to be left alone.just wondered what others thought.

I too have had MH issues so have some understanding.  Depression affects people in very different ways and I guess it's how we deal or don't deal with it.  I came through mine own personal nightmare, sadly others aren't so lucky and I guess it also depends on the severity, there could be psychosis, mania or any other number of things and it would not be fair to point the finger and blame.

I saw many posts in newpapers blaming the counsellor and company, people are often to quick to judge and blame.  Knowing several people who have committed suicide who have been offered help of medical professionals and refused help by pretending they were well and masking their symptoms they have gone on to do what they intended doing which is incredibly sad for all concerned.

Hi Carolyn

It's a touchy subject because what other

Explanation is there , 150 people lost their lives

So who is responsible ?

I must admit it's looking like the co - pilot

As he Was in control of that plane after the pilot left for the loo . I honestly believe there

Is no other explanation or scenario as the black boxes have been found which matches the theory . Also the co pilots background Etc . Why he did it we will never know , he saw a chance and he took it fatally taking all with him .

I have to agree with jackie,in as much as well do react quite differently ,even when faced with the same situation.

We are  all so very different,we can never generalise,I have to say though ,while we do not know all there is to know about this man,I would have thought ,had he meant to take his life, that is his own right ,and his own choice, however to do it this way and inflict innocent people is completely wrong,he was not only hurting his own ex lady friend and family, but al those other familes too.

Sure doesn't seem like the depression I live with! Suspect the press are grabbing at everything and anything trouble is it could do for depression what the knife wielding paranoid 'scare stories' did for schitsophrenia ( compulsory medication)

I dont think he was just depressed. He was angry because he had an illness which he knew he would probably lose his job over - I think he had sight problems, which may have been getting worse.

He also allegedly said something very weird to his girlfriend about a year ago about one day doing something really big that 'would change everything'. He had mental health issues certainly, but not just depression.

I understand he had depression but I think taking 150 innocent lives as well as his own makes it more than suicide - it makes it murder.   If he did do it deliberately then I hope he rots in hell despite his depression.  x

Hi guys thanks for all your replies.to me it just doesn't sit right.mental health has once again been shown in a bad light.if he was depressed that day how capable would he really have been to do that job I don't think he'd have managed but that's only my opinion.once again thanks for yours

I have thought a lot about this. It is such a blow to all who suffer m depression as can only lead to more predudice, especially in the workplace. I agree that it does not sound like straight forward depression. I think that he most probably also suffered from an additional mental health problem, most likely a personality disorder which made empathy very diffiult for him or some sort of psychosis. He could for example, have heard voices telling him to crash the plane.

I also picked up on the alleged comment to a former girlfriend that "one day everyone will remember his name" or something similar. I think he wanted notoriety.

Hi I think all right minded people accept that it wasn't just depression that led to this persons actions,  it was just of many factors and not the main cause.   People who commit suicide through depression usually do it alone.  You certainly don't take 150 with you.   He must have been a psychopath as well to commit mass murder.   I hope all pilots and co pilots are screened more thoroughly in future.  x

I dont think what he did can be classed as suicidal.. He is a murderer..

People who are suicidal bombers that kill innocent people.. We dont think oh he was depressed..

Or that guy who went into a primary school and murdered all those young kids and then.shot himself.. Was he suicidal?

I have been suicidal loads of times and my cousin committed suicide.. But yyou would never plan something like that which involves others..

He planned it!

In my mind that's a murderer

Sorry i didnt actually read many peoples replies i just had to say what i think.. i have no one else to say it to.. The whole thing makes me feel physically sick that fact that for 8 minutes people had to live for that long time (it would be long in a situation like that) knowing they were going to die.. And die a horrible way.. Its sick

Sorry if i offend.. Im in a crapy mood!

I don't see how anyone could be offended by what you have said.
