so just curious i take bentyl but im wondering what does anyone else take when thoughs gall stones flare up??! abdominal discomfort
I had my gallbladder out eventually but during attacks .. I’d take pain relief such as codeine and then I applied a hot water bottle on my stomach. it was only thing that helped me bare the immense pain until eventually I had my gallbladder removed as an emergency as it burst.
So there are a few OTC meds for spasm, also for nausea & pain,(ask your pharmacist) consult your Dr before starting any meds or natural remedies, as you don’t want to mask severe symptoms that are an emergency & require immediate treatment. There are natural remedies like warm compress 10 min. at a time(ask your DR. to be sure it will not add to inflammation or swelling) peppermint tea can soothe pain, nausea etc..you can lightly massage your back, shoulder & abdomen…DO NOT MASSAGE THE ACTUAL GALLBLADDER AREA(this can cause stones to move, or dig into tissues & etc.. Preventative help: regular light exercise, regular meals(help to empty bile vs many small meals)avoid excess fats, sugars, nuts, fried/greasy foods, grains can amp up bile & meat protein, too(so fatty meat sandwich may be a bad idea)…I preferred curling up with a heating pad, taking anti-inflammatories…my husband preferred walking/pacing, applying light pressure under rib & taking peppermint Tums…I REALLY feel for you, it’s awful…my husband passed out in the yard once from pain(he had GB disease), I had a ton of tiny stones(too many to count)…we felt like celebrating after surgery…SO WORTH IT!! Wish I could be of more help but, maybe you can try a few things & get a bit of relief…Best Wishes, hope you get a permanent solution ASAP, take care:two_hearts:![]()
