What does this type of drug do for ibs/diveriticulosis

I am also concerned that doctors only offer antidepressants for nerve pain and ignore any safer, natural options. I read that they are told to offer them first and then offer a different antidepressant if the patient refuses or can't tolerate them.  They also play down the side effects and your concerns.  When I refused amitriptyaline, he offered me trazadone despite the fact I said no to antidepressants. He claimed it was milder but the side effects were just as bad as amitriptyaline when I researched them. My mum was on trazadone to help her sleep and my dad took her off it because it was exacebating her exsting tremors that she had because of dementia.

It is such a minefield!

Hmm strange how I agree. I wrote a letter to my doctor and told her why I was so upset but she didn't listen it was almost like she was rubbing her hands with glee. So I left with nothing and headed to Boots and Holland and Barrett to see what I could naturally take. I'm going to try evening primrose instead. Let's what that does. Told my doctor that's what I'd be doing. I have sorted everything else my self. They've buggered my diet, health and wellbeing to have a family. Just feel cheated!!!

I have found that OTC remedies can be just as good and minus the side effects.  The least chemicals in our bodies the better.

There seems to be side effects with most drugs sadly. We just have to manage everything the best we can.

I find the best way to cope with my neuropathy is to learn to live with it and accept it because there is nothing I can do about it.

Sadly, I think you’re right!

I think both you and Pippa are right, but try telling the doctors that they don't listen, they just think everyone is depressed and rubs their hands with glee at ticking their boxes to give everyone a drug as then they feel they've done their job. I wonder if doctors have a vested interest in keeping the pharmaceutical companies happy, we don't it seems. How do you 2 ladies deal with the stress?

I think doctors, however good they are, are all bound hand and foot to the drug companies.  My best way to deal with stress it to satirise it in a limerick and make the situation sound ridiculous.  I have found myself laughing at things I would never ever have joked about in the past.  It really helps keep my IBS at bay.

Hi Pippa, I only discover how tightly strung I am when I really start laughing with my sister. I find it ridiculously hard to relax there's always crxx to deal with! I try to get out every day and keep really busy. That's my way to cope. Sending you a hug on here and a luxury coffee, as I can't see you in person.

Thanks; best wishes to you too.

That's kind!

👍

Finally someone who understands me!

I’m always up for a bit of fun to relax myself.  I can share some of my amusement with you by private message to keep your spirits up.

There’s a lot of people that think the same as you Sam, it’s best to try not to take drugs unless you absolutely need to. I deal with stress by immersing myself into something like crafting (cards, needlecraft etc.)  or photography, or watching comedies - laughter is the best medicine. Also if it’s very bad I find mindfulness helpful - there’s lots on line about it.

Actually that would be good.

I didn't realise how many until u started going online. I have looked in to mindfulness though as this may well help, I think! Thanks. X

Sending nice thoughts and amusement via private message.

Good luck 😊

You too! X
