My friend got her test results back yesterday and was postive for genital herpes…She says she doesnt remember having a outbreak ever but wanted to know exactly what it looked like ? Does all herpes outbreak look the same ?..I explained to her that every herpes outbreak doesnt look the same and it effects differently .
So she had blood work done an thats how she confirmed that she has genital herpes?
yes , she found out her bf cheated on her a few months back so she went and got tested and tested positive .
i see so im NOT a doctor but when i asked my obgyn what all was tested for on a std panel ( bc i had unprotected sex) he told me just the basics and that doctors rarely test for hsv1&2 because it is so common , 92% of americans will test positive for hsv Even if there has never been an active outbreak, he said in college he tested positice for hsv2 but never has had an outbreak therefore he considers himself herpes free (weird right ) i have had “cold” sores since i was a kid assuming i got them from my mother by simply sharing a drink or even a innocent kiss. sigh! when i get a outbreak my lip gets itchy or tingly and it will swell and then it hurts and becomes painful and will ooze a clear liquid then scab over the past few years my “herpes” / cold aores only last 2-3 days with only a tingle and swelling stage i use this camphophanic for cold sores and it has helped the healing process in 1/2 the time other medicines take. also theres been alot of speculation on how hsv is tested with blood work bc there has been studies that show several false positives and several false negatives.. u see herpes is such a tricky thing to deal with u could havw herpes and test negative for it if it isnt “active” so u could literally go decades testing negative for herpes and one day u wake up with an outbreak and ur told u have herpes .. *sigh *
