What drugs can you take for fibromyalgia after a MI?

I had a heart attack in February 2013 but had been diagnosed with fibro four years ago after years of unexplained aches and pains. I am currently taking Tramadol and Citalopram but these don't get rid

of the pain. There are so many drugs I can't take because of my heart attack and the meds I take for that. I have tried Amitriptyline but that didn't help with the pain and I put nearly two stone in weight

on. Are there any other drugs that my doctor could prescribe that might minimise the fibro pain

without reacting with the heart meds or piling weight on me? My heart meds are aspirin, Bisoprolol,

Atorvastatin, and Losartan.

Hello, I don't know if I am able to help. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few months back. Mines seems to be mild (and I hope it stays that way) however I know it prob wont. I am on naproxen 2x a day and amitriptyline at night, those are prescribed.

I do also take Vitamin B12 in the morning with a Vitamin D tablet a Vitamin C chew and a multivitamin to support my immune system. I feel my meds take the edge of the pain of but it's never fully away. I was on co codomol and diclaphenic but I got changed from the diclo to naproxen and came of the co codomol as it made me go in lala land

Hope this helps

Hi Gill. I would suggest you ask for a rheumatology referral as it's got to be someone who knows about the drugs you are on and what's safe to take. I'm on pregabilin ,, which is a common one for fibro but I have no idea re drug interactions. You need to speak to a pro about it! Good luck welcome to the fibro family, we are a growing one I think! For some reason my doc always says that a rheumatology referral won't tell us any more than we know already about my symptoms and condition. I will try asking again. Thanks for this advice.

He may well be right but you need someone who can be sure about your drug mix Gill. Try asking yr GP about pregabilin. Perhaps he/she can look up re interactions. V
