I've tried a few medications for BPH. I'm on alfuzosin now though it doesn't seem very effective. Other drugs I've tried or being recommended are: tamsulosin i didn't like RE Side effects. Calais I cannot afford it is very expensive Dutasteride vs. finasteride haven't taken due to Side effects. Has anyone a drug or a way to treat BPH effectively without side effects? I've only had a cystoscopy, though haven't had any other diagnostic procedures like an ultrasound to determine what exactly is going on.
None. They either have side effects or are not effective or both.

Calais is the only one that I know off that may help. It really depends on what is your problem. It will relax the bladder and the prostate.
Have you tried getting them from Canada. A few years ago I use to get 140 Viagra for $147. They carry the Calais and you only need 20 mg pill. Would be cheaper.
You may want to try something like I take for my external sphincter. Vasicare 10 mg. It is a muscle relaxer for the sphincter and it also help with the bladder. It may be worth a try. I have had no side effect with it.

I believe the Cialis for BPH is called daily Cialis, and is a much smaller dose than Ken mentioned: 5 mg? Also, there have been some news items about possible generics or going OTC, either of which would lower the price. Not sure where that stands right now.

Did a fast search. They found out in 2011 that is was good for BPH. If you take 5 mg daily it helps relax the prostate and the bladder muscle.

I quit taking Tamsulosin due to upcoming cataract surgery and other side effects like completely plug nose. I had been taking Tamsuloisin in the morning and Cialis 5mg at night. The doctor suggested I up the Cialis to 10mg so I found a legitimate Canadian Pharmacy and got 88 20mg generic Cialis for about $40. I split the pills and take one in the morning only. Actually my BPH symptoms have improved and I escape the horrible side effects of Tamsulosin. I haven't told my internist that I stopped Tamsulosin but I go see a urologest next Friday so I will see what he has to say. A side note; Tamsulosin contributes to ED so with the increased Cialis and stopping Tamsulosin my ED has gone away.
If you can manage it, self cathing is the best "way to treat BPH effectively without side effects". If your symptoms are mild, Urolift is the best procedure.
I have been on Tamsulosin but after 5 weeks gave me muscle problems in the legs and started to have difficulty walking. Stopped those and even after 3 months the hamstring in left leg is still complaining and I do wonder if it is permanent! The Dr has given me Finasteride and wonder if you know of any similar complications (I am sensitive to Stains and can't take those). Thanks.
Alfazusin is possibly better option provided one does not already have BP on the lower side. This medicine can further lower it. As Urologist told me that all BPH medications can further lower it. i wonder if Calais does not do so.
