If you’re experiencing recurrent thrush, you should try to see your doctor to check if you may an underlying health condition, like diabetes, iron deficiency anaemia (from heavy periods and poor diet) or thyroid disease that could be making you vulnerable to thrush. Obviously, if you’re sexually active it’s also sensible to get screened for STDs like HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea and chlamydia.
The whitish skin is lichenification from repeated irritation/scratching of the affected area. It’s not a sign of herpes.
