My hip has hurt for year, only the ortho Dr says not my hip as it doesn't hurt in groin area much. EMG was done. The Dr office called and left this message "Your results show arthritis and aggravation of L5". What does that mean? Where is the arthritis, hip or spine? What would be my next step? Waiting for my primary care Dr to get the report and give me more advice. Thanks
Hi, gogle L5arthritis. I just did. Interesting reading and will give you answers.take care
It’s in your back. I have just discovered I have a herniated L5 disc touching my left sacral nerve. The pain is most intense in my left groin. I don’t seem to have much arthritis in my hips? I don’t think referred pain is always as straight forward as we are led to believe.
I had an EMG/ NCV test, but it wasn't to look for arthritis, It was to try to assess nerve damage in my leg that was brought on by hernia surgery. In my case, they labeled the results as "inconclusive".
I had an EMG done about 2 years ago and I had a mri done about 6 months ago. it showed I have a herniated disc in the left side of my lower back. They also saw that I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet and rheumatoid arthritis in my left leg. I am supposed to have another EMG done in a couple of weeks.
The actual report wasn't what the voice message said. My legs were ok but there was slight something at L5 and he thinks mild degeneration of spine. My primary care Dr says no surgery yet, just wait.
You would really need an Mri to locate the arthritis, I'm not sure if an xray or ctscan would show where it is.
