What medication has suited you?

hi guys! ive been on sertraline 200mg 20 weeks now and if anything i feel worse, since being on this medication i have felt lower mood, heightened anxiety and also intrusive thoughts which ive never had until starting this, i was just wondering if anyone had any experience of sertraline/zoloft not helping them and then trying something else that did actually help? thank you

hey chelsea so I can relate to the situation youre in I certainly recommend speaking to your GP about trying different meds explain to him/her you arent having relief and that something else might work better! I know for me i didnt work at first I had to try new meds.

Did you start low & built up to 200mg , you my be on to higher dose, they say to much is as bad as not enough? just a thought, may be lowering may help, such a shame when youve been on it so long.

hi david thank you! what did you try that worked for you? im seeing my psychiatrist on the 27th and asking about changing over, i think my anxiety is also making me think im med resistant i think thats why i felt i wanted to post just to see if zoloft hadnt helped them at all that something else eventually did i think i just need that bit of hope thank you

Hi

I too have been on Sertraline for a while.
10 weeks altogether and 6 on the top dose of 200mg.

I started on 50mg then they put me up 50mg every 2 weeks as i was coming down from citalopram.

I am so scared for my health. I dont feel any better.
it was supposed to help my anciety and OCD. Im starting to spiral into depression too where i have no enthusiasm for anything anymore.

Im not sure if i should just be giving it more time. ?

How long have you been on 200mg for?

take care

i spent 6 years on one medication after another with none of them working. My psychiatrist finally put me on phenelzine/nardil which instead of being anSSRI or anSNRI is an MAOI . MAOI drugs arent used very often because of dietary restrictions and medication interactions . It is usually a last option in cases where the other meds havent helped. 30 years on and i havent looked back since starting it…It gave me my life back!!!

so sorry to hear that hun its exactly what has happened to me ive been on 200mg for 7 weeks now, i think ive got to accept it isnt helping me and move onto something else its just always going into the unknown, i hope you start to feel a bit brighter soon! i cant even leave the house at the moment :frowning:

Hi chesea on your first post you said you were on 200mg for 20wks
& as above you say 7wks ,i think you should give it at least 12wks which is what they say to get stablised, you brain needs to adapt to that dosage
some say thay they dont stablise untill at least 15wks.

i would definatly give it a bit more time a fight through it. GOOD LUCK?

I can assure you 100% you arent med resistant ! it just takes different meds for different people! For me fluoxetine worked as well as hydroxcine 50mg tablets for severe panic attacks.
