what's wrong with me?

I recognize that I have some of the symptoms for OCD such as maintaining order and cleanliness in my household and not being able to relax at all unless things of this nature have been attended to.  Recently, my girlfriend has moved in with me and I have become increasingly anxious and tense, to the point I actually feel ill.  It's not her, but rather, I think, the fact that my surroundings are being manipulated or changed.  It's making me, us, crazy!  What the hell is the matter with me?

You feel you have lost control of your environment which has increased your anxiety.OCD is an anxiety disorder however you need to get treatment for this as it is something that needs to be addressed.Talk to your doctor and get a therapist that can work through your anxiety

Yes, when someone with OCD feels they have lost control over something, it increases their anxiety. Definitely speak with a counselor who specializes in OCD and anxiety and they should be able to help you deal with this.

remember, OCD is not you, it does not define you as a person. It is just a condition that you have like any other condition.

it is often difficult for a person with OCD to live with someone else.  So definitely get the counseling. I hope all goes well

Hey Buck

It's not you it's your OCD. It's causing you to be stressed out. You like being organized and everything has to be a certain way and your gf living there she probably don't know about your problem. Talk to her and tell her how you feel if she can leave the things in their same place because it's affecting you and you're starting to feel ill. 👍Communication is important in a relationship.
