Hey Everyone,
I'm getting a colonoscopy in 3 days, so I'm not able to eat whole grains, Paprika, onions, leeks, ginger, garlic, tomatos, some veggies/fruits, nuts, and other things. So I plan on making Chicken with white rice for dinner. I was wondering if anyone knows of a sauce that would be alright to use. I love soy, teriyaki, sweet and sour sauce, chicken spice package, but I can't use any of them because they have onions and garlic in them. So I was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations so the chicken wont be so plain. I think I have to use lighter colored sauces and stay away from darker ones, but I'm not sure. Thank you.
Hiya,
Darlin my advice to you.......is going to be " do t do it to yourself" !!! Ok it's plain food and rather dull for a couple of days......but bear in mind, and not to put too fine a point on it..... anything you put down there....is gonna have to come out.....one way or another !!π seeds ,cream sauces, peppers etc,etc.......are VERY sore when you take the bowel prep and have it forced out !!!
Keep it mild.....and then you can cheer yourself up after the procedure !!
Good luckπ
Very good advice, stick to plain and simple.
I could be miles too late--hope not.
I make a good onion/wheat/garlic and dairy free sauce using:
*cornflour to thicken
*stock made from Gallo Organic Vegetable bouillon.
*slurp of wine--I used white
* good tablespoon of finely chopped chives or spring-onion tops (N.B.(only the green part!)
*desertspoon tomatoe puree
I've used this with other meats also. So good Imight well stick with it after The Diet.
Good luck with the test.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
I will stick with just plain since it's probaly better. I really love your idea Chris, but I'm not able to use onions, chives, spring onions, or anything with tomato in it.
I admire you tiger bolt. I am having an endoscopy and colonoscopy on Friday. I am anxious and tearful and not at all concerned about food. I am not worried about the procedure, but convinced I have something terrible wrong with me. I am driving my husband mad with my worries and anxiety. I am a 52 year old lady with anemia
Very natural feelings Karen. Most people fear the worst and the last thing on my mind would be to worry about what sauce to eat. I wish I could be like tiger bolt. Good luck with your procedure. My brother in law worried himself to distraction and was convinced he was very very ill as he had a blockage in the bowel. Turned out to be high hemmeroids and is fine now. Let us know how you get on. X
Karen and Babs, just because I'm concerned about my food and don't like plain chicken doesn't mean I'm not worried about the colonoscopy or the prep. I'm only 22 years old so of course I'm freaked out about the prep and colonoscopy! I have a very low pain tolerence, so of course I'm nervous. I don't understand just because I was concerned with one of the last meals I will have for 24 hours that you guys would automatically assume I'm not freaked out about the prep or colonoscopy. I've done a lot of research about both and for some people it goes well, but others say it was very painful. Of course I'm worried, but that won't solve anything, so I've been trying to distract myself. Last night I couldn't sleep because I was so worried about the prep and today I can't stop worrying because of the colonoscopy tomorrow.
wouldn't it be nice if thats All we had to worry about. What sauce to use.
Could your spicy diet be the cause of your stomach problems?
By this time tomorrow you will most probably wonder why the procedure caused you a sleepless night.
Don't worry Tigerbolt and don't freak yourself out...truly,...the bowel prep will just make you empty out....till you pass clear water......plain food will make it easy.....then take the " waking sedation" ( small cannula in the back of your hand ) they offer you just before your procedure ( makes you feel like you've had a glass of wine) and before you know it..it will be over...
good luck and keep us posted ok.π all the best.
I actually don't eat very much spicy foods, so that can't be it ha ha.
I sure hope so.
The Colonoscopy is in 4 hours and I'm a nervous mess. I had to wake up 4 hours early to take another laxitive and 2 liters of water!
You'll be ok Hun....you're going to come back here and tell us it was fine I'm sure....
The sedation will give you a couldn't care less attitude ! The " tour" of your colon is quite interesting if your up for it !! And you'll be out drinking a cuppa and eating bikkies before you know it.
take care darlin . π
Sorry I didn't mean to be blase' about your querie though it did sound like that, I apologise. I know it won't help, me saying don't worry because MOST people worry and it didn't make any difference to me how many people told me not to worry..I did. But just think it's 30 mins and it it wil be all over. Good luck and let us know how you got on x
Hope it went well for you.
Hey guys,
The laxatives actually weren't so bad. I had to drink 1 cup with the pikoprep (laxaitive) yesterday at 7PM then 2 liters of liquid which was tea for me. Then this morning at 6, I had to drink another cup of the pikoprep followed by 2 liters of tea. The prep itself wasn't too bad. It was really inconvenient having to keep going to the bathroom, but my body was cleared out the first few times. Maybe it's because of the diarrhea problem I have. I had to go to the bathroom quiet a bit, but not nearly as much as I thought. I felt nausea a lot though because I had no food in my stomach and I had to drink so much water. I also ate a big pot of rice with chicken and carrots yesterday for breakfast since that was going to be my last meal before the prep. I'm glad I ate so much since it kept me full most of the day. I was pretty hungry at night and in the morning though. But oh my gosh, the colonoscopy was absolutely horrible for me! They gave me a IV with pain medicine and something that was suppose to help me be sleepy. But it had no effect for me at all! I was awake the entire time and in such severe pain. Everytime they pumped air in me, turned a corner, or moved forward, it was extremely agonising. It was so painful I was almost in tears and constantly saying ow. The nurse was really nice and she let me squeeze her hand. She tried to get my mind off the pain and talk to me, but I could barely answer because I was in such pain. I felt like intense burning pain in my stomach and that it was going to explode. But thankfully it is over now! It only took 15-20 minutes which isn't long, but it is if your in so much pain. The good news is everything looks fine. They are sending samples to the lab and I will get the results back Monday I believe. Hopefully I will find a cure to my problem. I hope I don't have to go through that again for a long time. It was a pretty horrible experience for me. Right now I'm just resting at home and I'm pretty tired since I didn't get much sleep the last few nights. I'm still a bit sore, but not too bad which is good!
Well done Tigerbolt, all over. So sorry it was awful for you....but if all looks ok ? Small price to pay...
hopefully now you'll get some answers and be on the road to recovery.
all the bestπ
Well done. It's all over now and like many it was a horrible but neccescary procedure. I am supposed to go back every. 5 years for one but seriously don't want to go through it again. I will beg for the CT scan again. Good luck with your results and hopefully you will never need another
