Thanks Paul and same to you. You've been through a lot!
44 is a bit much, I don't envy you that!
I'm 5 weeks post op from Tibial Tuberosity transfer, lateral release, arthroscopy and capsulorrhaphy. Down to a single crutch if I'm out and about for more than an hour, but mostly walking around ok (albeit slowly). I've also been driving again for the last week, which is a huge relief. Just really frustrated at the lack of flexion, I can only manage about 120 degrees; but my Osteo tortures me three times a week and he's happy with my progress so I guess that's ok. I'm just impatient.
I have mostly worn my year old (at least) New Balance athletic shoes but over the holidays did manage some strappy sandals a few times and other more dressy shoes. Must admit to being a bit concerned about my week of working market... Will have to dress less casually for that.
Hi, My doctor suggested I try MBT. I did and have never looked back. I know they are expensive, but they straightened out my walking, stopped my ankle pain. I can't tell you how incredible they are.
I now buy them from eBay. Lots of people don't really give them a chance, or think they are ugly, and sell them straight on.
MBT stands for Masai Barefoot Technology and the shoes were invented by a Swiss engineer called Karl Müller in the early 1990s. He noticed, on a visit to Korea, that walking barefoot over some soft paddy fields alleviated his back, knee and Achilles tendon problems.
I'm currently wearing Asics in a WIDE fit, but they are cold in this winter weather. Need to find a leather shoe of sorts. Wish I could afford Brooks - they are expensive! Looking at New Balance right now.
I've got a pair of those somewhere. Must look them out. I think they went out of business in the uk. Sketchers do a similar type of shoe but not fully leather
Women's relaxed fit breathe easy sketchers. Believe me they are so comfy. Even got praise from physio for such suitable shoes. They are not clumpy either, very light and look quite good. Think I paid £40 or £50. Hope this helps.
A normal knee average maximum bend is about 130 degrees said my physio this week and he signed me off at 120. So I think you are worrying unecessarily so keep up thee good work to get the muscles back strong.
i wore sketchers trainers with insoles that i got from the hospital ,found no problems ,but you have made me think about my workshoes as i have had pain since returning and working all day on my poor feet
I had same issue during recovery. what worked for me was switching to neutral perfectly cushioned shoes. I wore Ance recovery sneakers around the house, which felt supportive, without forcing my foot in either direction.
