What to do

rang hospital on Monday to see when I would be having op to be told would of been January but because  of Al the cancellation in December will now be February but after news on tv yesterday about hospitals don't think will be February . And I work all summer if I can on our family rang carboot just managed last year had hope for op in winter so would be ready for this year all being well with op that is . Really don't know what to do try and carry on and put off op if later than March or have it and be out of action for hopefully only the start of season?  But if I don't have will be laid up half the week like last year after each carboot and on more meds now and on a walking stick to walk far

Hi I would chase hospital again and see what else they have to say. Is your hospital one on the list that is bad. I am waiting for my second thr on opposite leg. Have appointment with consultant on 26th Feb. What you need to do is ask yourself are you going to be able to cope with the pain if you don't have the operation. Plus will you be put at the bottom of The list if you put it off.

I would think the crisis in a&e will settle now and according to conversation in  my hospital in Surrey yesterday the hospitals are ,upping, the publicity to get more awareness and staffing generally.

i would keep contacting your consultants P A until they give you a date ! They cannot be months behind ! There is an 18 week charter they have to work to so you to be seen and then treated in uk anyway !

I would get app to see consulting straight away and explain why it is important that you have the op very early in the year. Don't waste time talking to other hospital staff. The surgeon can prioritise you if he decides to.

Hi Carol

Where are you?  Can you check on line about your hospital?

If you are anything like me you'll not be able to get hold of the consultant himself

I can get his secretary and she is great......anything I want to know she emails him then comes back to me wit the answer

I suppose it depends what part of the country you are in

Ummm, rang carboot ?  Being in US not sure how it works in UK but one thing we all share is being frustrated, mad and depressed when a surgery is postponed. Here, the surgery schedule depends on the hospital having an opening. I'm not sure what the problem is that you mentioned regarding hospitals but I would do all I could to get into a hospital that has good ratings. You can, however , ask your doc to move you up if at all possible --especially if your job is seasonal.

I wish you success in getting your surgery early enough to allow you to work
