Hi everyone,
I've been diagnosed with lots of little gallstones and my blood tests are showing problems. Going back to see G.P in a week.
I've had 3 attacks in the last week and I'm now frightened to eat in case it sets it off!
Any ideas for meals that will avoid triggering it?
Thanks Emm
Does your blood report shows elevated billurubin ?
Any lowfat/protein/oil with less frequent meals will help.
Hi Emm,
Sorry to hear!
For meals just try eating anything below 5% fat. If you have to try try using little amounts or even use coconut oil. I’ve been eating chicken, turkey, tuna & salmon for meats. Lots of vegetables. For treats I’ve had some twiglets, sherbet lemons and marshmallows. Portion size is important, eat smaller portions but try to eat more times a day. You can also buy protein cheese if you really like cheese! It’s 3% fat. Peppermint tea is amazing, really soothes the stomach.
Meals I’ve had are:
Sweet & sour Chicken with whole grain rice
Stir fry with fry light
Pasta bake
Salmon rubbed with salt and pepper with boiled potatoes and salad
BBC good food have tonnes of low fat recipes.
Hope I’ve helped! I haven’t had an attack for 4 weeks and I’ve just been sticking to this.
Anything less than 7g fat per 100g I was told. So that ruled out cheese and chocolate for me. Can get Philadelphia cream cheese with less than 3% fat. Has less fat in it than butter! Try eating little and often so your gallbladder doesn’t have to release so much bile. Hope you’re feeling better soon! xx
