what to wash with

i have this condition in a rather personal area, can anyone suggest what to wash with? i know aqueous cream isnt good or perfumed soaps and shower gels

I use aqeous cream as a soap substitute and find it fine, I think avoiding soaps and shower stuff is right, my guess is avoid anything with sodium laurel sulphate but that isn't easy- it is the foaming agent in shower gels, shamppos and incidentally in most toothpastes. Trouble is I haven't found any shower gels without it! Have asked at Body Shop too. I think they do exist- search online, but will as usuall be more expensive and probably have to get by mail order rather than on High Street. Might be worth looking at baby care ranges?

Hi Julie,

I would suggest you do not use any shower gels, soaps or creams of any sort.  It would just activate whatever is causing your problem. Use warm water with soft flanel  regularly and just keepclean.  Have you consulted your GP for advice?  He might advise an anti biotic cream or tablet.

For LS, which is similarly treated, I personally use water with some E45 bath oil, but

you can also buy  Dermol wash or shower cream over the counter.

Do you actually have OLP in that area?  Might be good to consult a Dermatologist, or Dr. at the very least.  You might have an infection and need to be examined. You do need some relief, so I suggested mild luke warm water to keep clean, as any product on the market would probably contain chemicals/ additives etc.and not pure.
