When can the dressing from THR be removed? I also have guttate psoriasis close to the wound

I also have guttate psoriasis close to the wound in two places so this could affect it, increasing the risk of infection. I'm four and a half weeks post op and my next hospital appointment is 2nd November. Thank you

Have psorasis as well, Dr's told me to get my GP to change hospital dressing at 10 days.

Attended local GP and then because he ws so pleased he put on a light guaze dressing, for another week, and then again another week after that no dressing required.

Was then able to attck psoarasis with cream, but at the same time told not to rub cream directly over cut, just beside it.

I have a terrible reaction psorasis to dressings, worst one recently was broken arm, oh what a mess.

I told Dr's it would be better if they plated and screwed bones, NO they knew best, end result is I had to attend hospital every 10 days have the plaster taken off, arm cleaned and washed, then plastered with my cream I use, and re plastered.

Young Dr's were horrified when they saw my arm, I don;t think they had seen such a raw mess previous.

I had staples. Am allergic to plaster. Once the staples came out at 14 days. No dressing.

Thanks Lyn, You had an awful time with it! Thanks for sharing your experience and I hope things are better for you now!

Hi Denise, I had staples too but the nurse put a new dressing on after she removed them. She gave me dressings to go home with. My daughter has been applying new dressings after I shower. Maybe I don't need to apply dressings now then....unless the psoriasis could possibly cause a problem.

Hi loubedoo.

I had my operation on the 17/10/16 and got told to take my dressing off on the 31st October. I have dissolvable stitches in mine.

Contact you GP and ask them

Good luck. 😀😀

Thanks Julie,

Yes, I'll contact my GP. My psoriasis may be a factor.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and happy healing!

Lou xx 😀😀
