Hallo zusammen, nur um zu fragen, wann habt ihr alle mit dem Fahren angefangen? Es wird variieren und genau das interessiert mich. Ich war gestern zu meiner sechswöchigen Nachuntersuchung, es ist eigentlich etwas länger, und morgen bin ich sieben Wochen postoperativ.
Sie sagten, ich könnte mit dem Fahren beginnen, vorausgesetzt, ich bin mir sicher, dass ich eine Notbremsung durchführen kann. Ehrlich gesagt, wenn ich im Auto hinter dem Steuer sitze, fühle ich mich nicht wohl. Deshalb möchte ich noch nicht versuchen. Was denkt ihr, Jungs? Wann seid ihr alle wieder hinter das Steuer gestiegen?

I had my check at 4 weeks and was told I could drive and walk without crutches but to take a fold up stick with me in case I needed it. I didn't feel ready for either !
I sat in car every few days but knew I wasn't ready. I actually started driving a few days ago and it's fine now. Do you have someone who could go with you the first time?
I have been walking without aids for weeks whilst at home but somehow being outside feels daunting. I'm taking one crutch but know that I'm about ready to give that up.

Hello, I live in Southern California-car country. I drive an automatic and had LHR. I started driving again at three weeks. I had been off the pain medication for a 1 1/2 weeks and felt fine. I didn't really ask anyone, but my PT agreed that I was well enough to drive.
Genau sechs Wochen. Ich habe ein Keilkissen im Auto verwendet, sodass die Sitzkanten nicht an meiner Narbe gerieben haben. Das größte Problem für mich war eigentlich das Einsteigen ins Auto - es ist sehr hoch, sodass ich eine kleine Stufe mit einem Stück Schnur darum verwenden musste, damit ich sie ins Auto heben konnte, sobald ich drin war. Ich war anfangs nervös, aber ich ging es langsam an und übte eine Weile auf ruhigen Straßen, bevor ich mich dem Verkehr stellte, und ich vermied eine Weile das Stop-and-Go-Stadtverkehrsfahren.
Nach etwa 9 Wochen bin ich in der 7. und 8. Woche auf eine Kreuzfahrt gegangen. Ich habe das Auto ein paar Mal kurz nach der 6. Woche bewegt und meinen Mann gebeten, mich an einem Abend auf einen großen, ruhigen Parkplatz zu fahren, um eine Notbremsung zu üben. Das war erledigt, und nach meinem Urlaub war ich ganz zufrieden, musste aber die Fahrposition etwas anpassen, da sich meine gesamte Haltung, sogar beim Sitzen, verändert hatte. Ja, ich werde meine Tochter bitten, mit mir ins Auto zu kommen, wenn ich es irgendwann tue. Ich denke, du hast recht, und ich fühle mich im Moment nicht wohl im Auto. Ich werde es noch eine Woche versuchen und sehen, was passiert. Danke für deinen Input 😊

As long as you are not comfortable, for whatever reason, do not drive ... and please have someone with you the first (couple of) time(s) --- don't allow anybody to force you and don't feel you need to defend your self --
I have a tiny, low seated, manual shift Fiat - after first THR I was more courageous and started driving at 5 weeks post-op . flt confident enough and could do the emergency stop ..
However, with 2nd THR it was a different story - I felt uncomfortable, did not trust my self and postponed the driving until week 9 and at times still did not drive for a couple of days ...

I lived in Los Angeles for 35 years and so miss my comfortable smooth driving automatic ...

Hi , i am 4 weeks post op tomorrow and was able to drive last week ..its more difficult getting in car but as i van lift my right leg and brake etc i am fine , though only driving short small journeys , i am also walking without frame stick etc ...again small walks i had posteria TRHR...everyone heals different ...i have been lucky with plain etc

I was 2 weeks out but I use my right foot and my left hip was replaced.

Als ich die Erlaubnis zum Fahren bekam, bin ich erstmal ein paar Tage nur ein- und ausgestiegen, dann hat mein Mann uns auf einen leeren Parkplatz gefahren und ich habe das Steuer übernommen und einfach das Gefühl bekommen, wie viel Druck ich auf das Gaspedal und die Bremse ausüben muss. Leider dauerte es für mich etwas über 2 Monate, bis ich anfing zu fahren, da ich mir meine erste Hüftprothese ausgekugelt habe und drei Wochen später eine vollständige Hüftrevision durchführen lassen musste und sechs Wochen nicht belasten durfte. Aber sobald ich wieder fahren konnte, war es kein Problem. Viel Glück für dich. Umarmungen Linda
Ich war nach sechs Wochen bei meinem Berater und er sagte, ich bräuchte noch zwei weitere Wochen, bevor er mich zum Fahren freigeben und auch zur Arbeit zurückkehren würde.
Ich fühlte mich nach vier Wochen bereit, aber meine Versicherungsgesellschaft war nur zufrieden damit, dass ich fahre, wenn mein Berater es auch war.
Hätte ich vor der Freigabe einen Unfall gehabt, wäre ich nicht versichert gewesen, also habe ich das Risiko natürlich nicht eingegangen, da ein Fahrverbot wegen unversicherten Fahrens mir meinen Job gekostet hätte - und zweifellos auch viel Geld!
Hun Cindy, I had my checkup similar stage to you. I live in a cul de sac so practiced emergency stop. My hubby took me to work for a week when I returned at 8 weeks. I drove short distances for around 6-8 weeks before I undertook a longer journey as I didn't feel comfortable. Almost two years post op now. X
Hi Cindy, I had a right anterior hip replacement on June 6th and went back to work on July 19th. To this day I still have some assist with my right leg ..
To add to all the differing experiences, I drove for the first time to my 6 week check up. Neither my consultant or my insurance company were in the least bit interested in whether I was driving or not. Neither had any opinions on the subject. I then returned to work the next day and did my usual busy half hour drive through the traffic to work. I felt a bit sore for a couple of days but then forgot about it.
If you don't feel comfortable and you are not under pressure to return to work, relax and leave it a bit longer.

If you don't feel comfortable I would not drive. Sit in the car to get a feel for it. The insurance will not be very happy if you drive when you are not absolutely confident. Take a friend when you first do go out. Good luck.

Hallo Sylvia, ich habe es nicht eilig, da ich im Ruhestand bin, an einer guten Buslinie wohne und gute Freunde und Familie habe. Ich verwöhne mich nicht und bin zufrieden mit dem, was ich bisher erreicht habe, aber ich fühle mich noch nicht bereit, was das Auto betrifft. Ich freue mich, dass es dir so gut geht, möge es noch lange so bleiben. Xx
