Hi. My test came back positive for HSV-2 today. My doctor says that it has to be someone i slept within 2 to 20 days of first showing symptoms. I have slept with someone new a couple times in the last 30 days and the last time i slept with my ex was about 60 days before showing symptoms. I cant wrap my head around it not being from my ex cuz he had ALOT of partners and this new person has hardly had any. Is there any way it could be from my ex? Or is it like the doctor says that your first outbreak always happens in 2 to 20 days after contact?
First things first, you can never really judge someone’s sexual health based on how many partners they’ve had. For example: I only have 2 partners and I’ve had an STD. But as far as the timeline goes it’s most likely from your new partner. If you want to be sure, you can do a blood test. If a blood test is negative it is most likely from your new partner
Did you get tested for IgG at the same time? If positive by swab but still negative for IgG, then it is a very new infection, so your current partner is the likely source. Number of sexual partners is irrelevant, as you could be a virgin and your first partner has herpes, then what?
I got a culture swab of an ulcer and all they told me was i was positive for hsv2. The doctor is telling me that if you're going to be someone that shows symptoms then its going to happen between 2 and. 20 days of contracting the virus. But ive read testimonials of people saying they had it a year or two before their first outbreak. Idk what to think.
Most symptomatic people get their first outbreak soon after infection, that's true. There are exceptions, however, but that's not nearly as common.
Sex partners mean ntn I know a girl that had sex with 20+ men and she is negative meanwhile my first time having sexual experience Im positive
