When does amoxcillin start working for ear infection?

I have bee on amoxcillin for my ear infection since thursday, dec. 8, 2016. I have been taking it twice a day & I still don't have any relief. My ear is still ringing occasionally & throbbing. & I still cannot hear out of it. I feel like I am taking he amoxcillin fo nothing. Plus, this is also my first ear infection so I don't know how it all works.

Hi Ashley, sorry to hear about your ear infection. Best to check with your doctor if you don't get any relief soon.

Hi Ashley, if you have a supply for say, 7 days, you may have to wait for relief until they're almost finished. If it doesn't completely clear, you may have to take a second batch.

Hey Ashley I would get it rechecked I went into the dr and they said I had an ear infection i got on meds and it kept getting worse and come to find out it's tmj so I would get rechecked

Hi Ashley if the pain is bad I think you should go to emergency to see an ENT or ask to be booked in through your doctor to see an ENT. Sometimes suctioning the infection out of the ear canal brings relief, but that is only if the infection is in your ear canal. If it's fluid behind the ear drum then you have to be patient as that can take longer to heal. Go back to your doctor if you are concerned, don't wait it out. Sometimes reassurance is helpful.

The ear infection is also effecting the eustacion tubes which equalize ear pressure....the crackling, the need to pop, the ringing.

How long depends on how infected your ear was. In any case you can ask for ear drops to deaden the pain.

Antibiotics are not an instantaneous gratification like a narcotic.

Im on day 5. It doesnt rid the fluid it rids the infection. It takes time. And my ears popping,  crackling feeling strange at times.  All stinks!

Absolutely, it stinks!
