I'm approaching 70, and have had to complete an application for a driving licence. It got me really anxious, even though I use IT a lot. Would this have upset any of you? I've only been taking citalopram for 2 weeks, so side effects prob still rule. What do you think? Thanks.
Hi
I am on week 4 of citalopram and finally the last of the side effects have worn off, they made me more anxious than ever the first few weeks of taking them.
Give it more time and the effects will lessen.
Take Care
HI Iris
i have been taking Lexapro for just about 4 weeks now and the side effects are slowing diminishing! I am 68 and taking ends for depression and anxiety! Hang in there things do improve!
Dawn is right about giving yourself more time to adjust to the medicine. Getting a driver license at any age can make you nervous and anxious. Im 61 and the traffic, todays drivers, and road rage are an expeience you need time to digest. Keep on keeping on and best wishes.
Thanks everyone.....I meant to add I was renewing my licence which you have to do at 70!!!!! B. I struggled with another AD for a long time, but anxiety and mood never really lifted. I think I'm starting to lift after two weeks.......just wish the headache/spaced out feeling and dry eyes would clear......I'm mainly ok from the neck downwards!!!!!!
let the drug get used to your body then apply for the licence.
Hello Iris
I am sixty six and the this even now makes me worry what will happen when I have to reapply at seventy
Your medication Citalopram has the problem of contraindications in the first three weeks or so. I have been driving with them now for a long time. Sometimes I can feel a little tired in the morning so I have a coffee break for about half an hour and I am ok after that.
One way is to take this medication at night, just before bedtime, this prevents most of the worries associated with this medication. Sometimes as we get older the AD dose can be reduced as the medication seems to effect us more in higher doses. So do not worry. In the last four months I have been down to the IOW and across to Northern Ireland, not forgetting Inverness and I have been ok. In fact I am off again to Aberdeenshire and Wester-Ross in four weeks time. All it seems to do is put miles on the car and tyres
Do not worry, Keep a hold
BOB
Hi Bob...I got cheesed off because I had no wifi so had to use my phone to reapply online.....could hardly read it. However I would still say Bob is that it WILL be easier to fill in the application form they send you, even if you do have to pay for new photies! Enjoy your travels x
Thanks Iris
Good Luck and please do not worry, it will all work out My Mother is in her late eighties and still driving
