When is bath time?

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me when I will be able to have a bath? I am 3 weeks post op, my scar is very well healed but I haven't got my consultant appointment for another 5 weeks. I do love a bath as I have very dry ichey skin and a soak in my favourite moisturising bath cream would be fantastic.

Little things make me happy.

We discarded our bath for a super shower some time ago. I was able to shower on discharge from hospital, waterproof dressing, but did need to hold on. Baths are a bit more complex, getting in and out and sitting, there are plenty of people who will be able to advise

Hi cookie,

You can officially take a shower!!! I am 3 weeks post op as well. I showered last week. Enjoy 😎

Hi Scoops,

I've had many showers but really would love a bath, it's the scar thing that worries me, I am able to get in and out of the bath.

Hi cookie I'm 6 weeks post op my consultant said def NO bath another 6 weeks showers only

Can't wait for nice soak but showers fine for now

Denise

Thank you for your reply swindon, wish it was "you can bath now" but another 9 weeks?

My skin is not happy ; (

I think your I'll find the problem I  not the a are, but the sitting down and getting out of the bath.... Risk of dislocation.!

I did get vasoliine oil spray which I used on legs as can't bend down and got fed up asking everyone to moisturise my legs .

Denise

Goodness.....think my keyboard has a mind of its own...just read my last post!! Should say the problem is not the scar, but the sitting down.....could dislocate.

OT has advised me no baths for minimum of 3 months or longer!! All about the risk of dislocating the hip. I have seen gadgets, something like a long handled back brush but without the bristles, which you can load with cream which might be helpful to get to your feet & lower legs.

I must admit I'm using the NO bath rule as a guide for fit for work ! As my job in dentistry involves lots bending and stretching if I'm not Ok to get down into a bath then I'm not Ok to do my job safely and I'm definitely not risking my own health or indeed my patients ..

Denise

P.s wish I'd known about long handled brush

Denise's suggestion about Vaseline moisturising spray seems like a good one. We use Sanex shower cream, the one for very dry skin which is good for keeping dry skin moisturised in the shower. I haven't had a bath in years - don't like the idea of sitting in my own dirty water.
