hi everyone, I had a left THR in Dec 2013, all plain sailing and now have a lovely stable left hip and leg. Discovered afterwards that pelvis was tilted to one side and have had quite a lot of chiropractic treatment to correct this. Despite it I now have fairly constant pain in my right hip, burning pain in my right knee and stiffness/pain in my right lower back. Nights are getting bad again. The operated side does ache at night if I lie on it for too long, don't really want to go through all the sleeping on my back stuff again but don't see what choice there is. Is it time to get the other one done? Anybody got any tips or experience? Thanks!
Almost identical problem. I had THR left side 10/13. Almost constant pain right side, but reluctant to go ahead as had bad experience, slow recovery, pelvic misalignment, SI pain, seeing chiro twice a week, heel raise, painkillers not working anymore. Suddenly pain unbearable and affecting sleep. Never slept operated side as sticks out (see, prosthesis sizing). I may see a vet!
Well vets have always done very well for my dogs lol. You sound in a bad way, hope you get some relief.
Hi my pelvis is also tilted but surgeon said I had that for a long time. Why I needed the RTHR.
Hope I don't have to do the left side.
sleeping on back was crucial for me couldn't sleep for 4 weeks. Pray for the best.
100 days out of TRHR...... I also need my other hip done. My issue is arthritis. The pain generates from the hip down to the leg. Very hard to make large steps because of stiffness and pain. My surgeon told me to hold off as long as i could (i'm 43). He said i will know when the time is right. Here in the USA though, i can make a decision and have surgery in a month's time if i wanted, so if you have to be put on a list, please be sure to do it soon if it's causing you that much grief.... i don't look forward to the back sleeping for 6 weeks again either.... Good luck to you. Ginny USA NJ
Hi Penny, I had my THR in October and still had pain in my thigh and when I checked with the surgeon on my 6 month check up he xrayed my knee and said I need a knee replacement and has booked me in for July so if you check I am sure if it needs replacing it will be done, but the waiting list is about 18 weeks in Bedfordshire so the sooner you get it checked out the sooner it will be done. good Luck Valerie
