when to decide it's time for medication

I have been suffering with anxiety since January all started when I began having palpatations and then had a full blown panic attack at work and was taken to hospital and found out I was anemic. Since then I have been costantly worried about my help especially my heart I habe had lots of ecgs blood tests etc all clear. I have dizzy spells skipped beats palpatations racing heart I think about something happening to me all day everyday I have tried so hard to tell myself it's anxiety but find it really hard before I had the panic attack in january I had never suffered from anxiety and was very happy now I feel like I've lost myself. I'm married with 2 young kids and it's destroying my life. Sorry for the rant I need to know when did you decide it was time to try medication I'm really worried about side effects

Everything and I mean everything you are saying I went thru. Work and kid and all. Scary stuff as it happens to you. Unsure of everything worry about each nounce to your body and what it means. I've been dealing for more then a year now and Google and research all kinds of info and forums to try to get a understanding. Still trying. It consumes your life a bit and it seems there is not much you can do..but you can. I got phycologist and psychiatrist along with regular Dr I am working on this anxiety and sever panic attacks. I'm on meds and they help very much but be careful of meds read up on the different kinds and the med family. Especially benzos med family. They can have addictive qualities. I'm on 1mg klonidin and now trying to get off slowwwwwly and still have withdrawals. But everyone's different. I also take ativan and it doesn't do that. It's fast acting and I use when need in a PA. Best advice . research before taking and talk with Dr. If they prescribe go home and research. Wish I had that advice before I started meds. Most important. Get some therapy That has made the difference for me once I found someone I'm comfortable with

God bless

Sorry for what you are going through. I knew  I had to try medication when anxiety started to take over my life and there was nothing in my head besides it any more. When I realised that i am not enjoying my young child and when untreated anxiety escalated to borderline psychosis despite CBT. Oh, and when a psychiatrist explained that there is no need to suffer if you can be helped. And I was helped. It took a while but it worked. All the best.
