I had staples out on day 14 still got a dressing on should I leave it on .now on day18

District. Nurse or GP should remove it, in case it's not dry enough.

I had stiches out and the nurse told me not to put anything on it .

Hi Wendy after I had mine taken out at 14 days I took the dressing off and started putting on Cetraben cream which I got from the doctors. It just makes the skin a lot softer as mine was very dry. Best of luck

I would have thought your surgeon would have told you what to do. I had surgery on a Thursday and had my bandages removed within 7 days. The incision was glued and it had dissolving stitches. After my follow up appointment (10 days) I was letting it get wet in the shower. Just ask before you do anything.

Looking forward to getting stitches out, right now I am 3 days post op and in much pain.  Icing a lot and pain mods.  Much more painful than I expected.

Three days and you're actually writing this?  Really?  At that point, I was either unconscious or writhing in pain.  No chance I could actually be coherent on a keyboard.  Hat's off...  Check out my links in the post above.  Hope some of it helps because yes, you need to level-set your expectations.

Hi Wendy... I'm 11mths post op with my first TKR and my surgeons nurse took of the bandage at my first visit back to see him .. he uses dissolvable stitches.

However I'm now just 4wks post op with my 2nd TKR and soluable stitches again .. I am seeing him this coming Wednesday when my bandage will be taken off.

Have you given your surgeon a quick call as to find out how long he wants it left on for?
